The FiiO L7 is designed to be used with the E7 USB DAC/AMP, providing a dedicated line-out jack for sending a high quality line-level signal to other devices such as a stereo or amplifier. Great for when you want the enhanced sound quality of the E7 over on-board computer hardware solutions, but want a true line-out to your amp to power those speakers or 'phones!
When the L7 is docked into the E7, the E7 can only be used as a USB DAC.

The description says it's for Fiio E7, but I use it with Fiio E17 Alpen. It works great, allows me to connect external amplifiers to the Alpen's DAC. Can definitely upgrade the sound, if you have a good desktop amp.Overall
Makes much easier trying different amplifiers without double amping.
If found it weird that the volume control on the Alpen still worked,
though that it supposed to control the amplifier part only.
I do recommend to use it with Fiio E7 or E17, as the DAC part on them is better than the amplifier part. (Posted on 1/27/13)
