I've been owning this IEM for almost one year.
The IEM build quality was robust, except the thin cable and microphonic.
But overall, it's a fairly good product, the separation was nice, vocal was clear and detail, soundstage wide enough.

Pros:
-metal case
-w/ mic, can use it with my phone as handsfree

-thin cable

Good headphone, built with solid material. Very clean sound in the highs, mids and excellent basses. The microphone has a good sound quality and is very functional. This are my first Brainwavz and I am very satisfied with the purchase. Five stars deserve.

Not really impressed by these earphones , i like my beta and soundmagic's PL30 more.
But the sound detaling is very good in these earphones. so if you mostly listen to acoustic songs then these are good for you.
Bass is not good at all if you are a bass lover.

I was enjoying these earphones for several weeks, especially given they came with Comply Foam pieces.

However around 2 weeks into using them, the microphone/control came apart (no visible wear) and the button fell out. I only take these with me jogging, nothing crazy or anything that could damage them so I was disappointed they broke.
However, the warranty guys have been really good with helping me get a replacement so hopefully I'll be back to earphones in no time. (Posted on 11/30/12)

This review are written for my friend which I helped her to purchase it during one of the sales. Actually, she purchased 2 sets of this after hearing one from another friend.

In her words, she is impressed with the sound signature and bass is no lacking. It has a V shaped frequency sound signature. The mid range is clean and detailed with excellent treble details. Soundstage is wide as well.

In terms of build, the non-mic version cable looks much better so really has no idea how this cable will fare but it should be able to give some run base on normal usage. The mic version was choosen for the convenient using with Samsung S3. Accessories that came with it are adequate. (Posted on 11/26/12)

But it is very strange that It is NOT working with my other phones at all.(Sony Neo, Sony Active)

M4s have a metal housing and a sturdy and tidy built. They are very small in size but they carry plenty of bass in that body. The sound signature is V shaped (so, not for neutral sound lovers). Having said that though, they still have plenty of detail.

Just a note, when mine arrived, they sounded a bit tight and a bit muffled. But they opened up nicely after about 30 hours of usage (so, leave them playing for a day or two). Soundstage became a lot wider, sound clearer.

I bought two of these finely built inears back when they were on sale for $28.50 for a mate and I and we have been using them for months. They are a solid set of earphones with a balanced sound signature and a mildly powerful bass. The microphone that’s included is extremely useful on my iPhone 4 to play/pause/skip music without having to take my phone out of my pocket. A drawback of the mic’d one is that the cable is not as durable and sleek as compared to the one without a microphone.
Overall, these are a fantastic set of IEMs due to their amazing sound and they outperform many of their counterparts on a similar price range. The downside is having to make the tough choice between the one with a microphone and sacrificing cable durability, or choosing the pair without a microphone and losing the efficiency and convenience that it provides.

I had the M2 before this and I like this one better due to better highs. The cable does look weak though but it's durable enough if you are not careless with your gear.

As usual, the accessories that came with it was plentiful and I really love the new big case. Lots of eartips for you to try on and the included Comply tips are excellent.

Sound quality is very good and is quite different from the M2. It is detailed and the bass is of the right quantity and depth. Sure you can get better sound from other earphones but you'll be spending a lot more.

I really recommend this everyone who is careful with their audio gear and need the mic and remote. (Posted on 9/29/12)

Have been using Brainwavz IEM for over 3 months now,
Bass is punchy and not over powering, treble is OK and mids are little recessed, overall a very balanced sound signature. Good for bollywood numbers which I listen to mostly.

The M4 Brainwavz are incredible headphones have good sound distribution. His bass is one of its greatest strengths. I bought a year ago one of my friends and I want to reuse them as I have a samsung Galaxy, and let me not at all disappointed! Especially because they have mic that I use with my android. I highly recommend

The M4 are very good built. The housing is really nice with some fine details. Cable looks durable, it is not as sleek as the standard M4 (I guess the extra wire for remote) but overall great built.

Like the standard M4, it came many silicone tips (all sizes) and some very fine foamies. There is also a nice small zipped carrying case.

Sound wise, I also have the M1 for comparison so here is my opinion:

Bass is good, clearly better than my M1, goes deep, a little too much upper bass for my taste, but not boomy, sounds full.

Mids are not recessed, they actually sound a little forward, I found them a little 'shouting" at higher volume, just at the point where the mids end and the highs begin, a thing I didn't encounter with the M1.

Highs is where things could be better, I like hearing detailed highs and while the M4 sounds good overall, I feel like there's something missing. High frequency is present and good but I get the feeling it cuts off at an early frequency, the extension is not that good, but overall it sounds crisp and precise. (Posted on 7/23/12)

Of my collection of Brainwavz audio products, I'd have to say that the M4 was my least favourite. Don't get me wrong, because the audio quality is very good on these earphones. It's just the sound signature and other little things which put me off slightly.

Firstly, the mids are lacking compared to the M1 and M2 but that is expected because of the V-shaped sound. It can sound quite dark as well which is not my cup of tea. However, others have said that the M4 sounds like a poor man's UE Triple.fi which costs over $180. So if that's your style, then these are great earphones especially when they are on special.

It is also important to note that if you plan on using these on your smartphone, please make sure that it supports TRRS connectors. My Ideos X5 couldn't so the earphones are pretty much useless until I use my Fiio E5 as an inter-connector.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the cable on the mic-version is not very durable but I've heard that MP4Nation are working on a new cable. On the plus side, I love the larger carry case because now I can fit my ear gliders in there. (Posted on 7/15/12)

I ordered both M4 with and without microphone. I find the remote very usefull for my iPhone4 as you can answer/pause/play/skip without touching the phone. The microphone is also good quality, people hear me very well while talking on the phone.

Pros:
-Sound quality is very good for the price.
-Nice rubber cable that doesn't strangle easily.
-comes with many earpieces including comfy ones.
-nice hard case to protect earphones.
-packaging is impressive and easy to open.

Cons:
-Cable is not as good as the one without the mic. (Photo on mp4nation is showing the wrong cable)
-The volume control piece in the unit I received is different the one showing on brainwavez website which is disappointing as you have to press a small button to control it instead of clicking anywhere as per the original designs.
