Well, I just tried this firmware v10.01 for the X760 on my JXD 301. Here is my assessment of it. Take it as you will.
Pro:
--The interface seems to be more responsive and more instant. With the original 301 9.3.6 firmware there was a small delay when you hit the buttons and then it goes to that corresponding menu. With this X760 firmware it seems to be navigating is a little faster.
--Video files tend to load up faster and even the Fast Forwarding and rewind tend to be faster especially with the WMV files.
--You have all the basic functions and even FM tuner, however, it doesn't do anything on the JXD 301. But it will pretend to make an attempt on the unit.
--Music works like it should, its pretty fast going from one song to the next. It exits and start and stops like it should.
--Pictures are also working like they should. They seem to render a little bit faster. Not much though.
--You do not have to ADD anything to the Music,Video, etc.. directories within the player(like you do with the 301). As long as you put it in the corresponding directory, it will show up. That to me is nice.
Cons:
--Obviously some of the keys do different things as it is made for a different player. However, for the most part it is tolerable.
-- To me the Video may load up faster, however they seem to play more slugish with this firmware VS the 301 firmware. Especially the Real media RMVB files, they load up and fast forward good, but It seems to drop a lot of frames, something that didn't happen for me with the 301 firmware.
--Yes, this will play WMV files, however, it was hit and miss. Some would play just fine while others would play halfway through and then just exit for no reason. Sometimes I could fast forward past that point and other times it would just exit me out to the main menu. And I had tried multiple WMV rendered videos, so there didn't seem to be a pattern to it.
--Default theme is kind of stupid, however, it is not bad. I'm just spoiled with the Apple theme and others that were created by another user on these forum's.
--Game emulation still kind of sucks, in fact it seems more sluggish with this firmware.
Overall it is not bad, especially for music. However, I think that I will go back the 301's firmware. While the interface is a little bit faster navigation wise and execution wise, to me it just isn't worth the video performance hit that I am getting plus the unstable WMV's.
Remember, these are
MY experiences with this firmware. Your millage may very, however.
I just thought I would share.
