SciPhone Dream G2 - the fake Android Phone - Pictures

There was much hype about the SciPhone G2, most of it due to the makers of the phone claiming that it would run Android, which would have made it the first Chinese phone to run Android and only second to the T-Mobile G1 to run the Open Source OS. However we found out not too long ago that infact the phone did not run Android but ran a new version of the OS that runs most China made CECT phones but its interface had been made to look like that of Android.

I have used this phone and confirm it does not run Android, the overall UI is very slick, much nicer than most CECT phones, Java program work well, the touch screen is responsive and the overall UI looks very clean and slick. Its a real shame that the makers of this phone choose to just rip off the look of Android, clearly they took the effort not only to make the UI look similar but even improved on the normal CECT OS to make it run smoother and added more features, if it wasn’t for the blatant lie they keep peddling that this phone uses Android, i would say the phone is quite nice and works well.

We will be selling this phone shortly and it won’t cost more than $170 at the most (free 1GB microSD card, Quadband, Edge/GPRS).

wow 2 new things in 2weeks...not bad :O
but im not interested in phones, even though that looks really cool.....
its probably gonna be around 120$ is my guess.

$120 is not bad....would consider for that price...but would have to wait for user review first...frm my experience china phone ripoffs are quite bad

I think 170 is to much, already found one site doing it for 160.

I would not pay more then 120.

If it really had Android ( even though its free!) I would pay more.

Raz find an android forum and find out if they could get a real copy of android working .

I've seen android on a netbook so why the hell not :P

Really nice phone, but its a little bit expensive since its only the UI that differs and not the whole system. Good that the touch screen is responsive though.
