I'm trying to get some reference for why my HDG has such poor battery life (3-3.5 hours). A quick look back and I see those who are saying they get 6+ hours have the V6000HDT or the V9000HDA.

So I'm asking if any of you own the V9000HDG, can you post your typically battery life? What video files are you watching (quality / bitrate, resolution, etc)?

And if anyone has had this issue with their HDG, any of you somehow manage to boost the battery life with some trick?

The V9000HDG only has a 2050mA according to ainol.com while the V6000HDT has a 2500mA and is also more efficient.

However if the V9000HDA really only has 1700mA and performs as good hmm...

Are you using the level 5 brightness? as ever since the last firmware form July for my V8000HDS (ainol site says 2400mA but a disassembled picture showed 2500mA) the brightness has increased so that level 3 or even 2 may be enough in a bright area depending on amount and type of light while level 1 or 2 may be enough for when in the dark.

edit keep in mind that V8000HDS has only 5 levels of brightness.

Like I said in my review thread, I use 5-8 brightness level and 5-8 volume level. I'm also experiencing a increase in battery life after 2 discharges.

So that begs another question: did you guys charge/discharge your players several times when you first got yours and did you notice any improvements in battery life?

Hmm well that might explain the 6-7 hours others with the V6000HDT are getting vs. my < 5 hours (currently).
