[quote="Ranger Wolf"]Yea I also have to agree with you. I always use to love amd for their performance and extra cpu goodies for overclocking and such. but now with intel making such powerful cpu's with large L2 Cache, it just seems better to go with them for the latest and greatest. AMD is still very very good though ]i know, i've been working in computers all my life plus it's my hobby since i was a kid but like i said, this is supposed to be a mid-range system. one day i'll build a high-end gaming system with of course an intel processor.

this motherboard does indeed support DDR2-1066 and even AM3 processors with the latest BIOS update but i kinda regret i didnt go for the PRO version since it has 4 DIMM slots and supports up to 8GB of internal memory wheras this one has 2 DIMM slots and supports up to 4GB of internal memory but then again, i will probably not pump any more money into this PC..

nice setup Tristan! just be careful with the powersupply and dont make the same mistake like i did :o ops: better spend a bit more and buy a more powerful one, like 600 or 700 watts.

also, go for a 6GB DDR3 kit instead of a 4GB DDR2 kit, you'll get much more benefits from it plus it's not so expensive at the moment :P

btw i blurred out the activation key, thanks for that ;) i was already thinking that i missed out something 8)

yup, xp is older, and will run better on less powerful systems

vista is more of a resource hog, so if you have an older computer, it will basically kill the performance.

but if you have a good pc, vista will fly.

btw i'm not satisfied because 3dmark vantage runs like shite, it's so damn heavy, and i'm already planning of upgrading the motherboard to SLI and add another videocard next month  this PC is already way beyond it's original budget anyway.. F it, let's spend!

well, all my pc are original HP, one XP bought 2005, 2GB RAM, 320 HDD, one Vista Dual core bought the day came out. 3GB RAM, 600 HDD, but i had problem with internet connection everytime I turned on, so I downgrade to XP, no problem since. but i'm not the PC game person so this is good enough for me.
