the cc1600 is powerful and supports more formats than Rockchip. My OS-43 for instance cannot play certain rmvb that my cc1600 can. Certain avi are also a no with my os-43. My cc1600 seems to play everything with exception of mkv and mp4. When a rockchip does play a file, it is just not smooth enough for my liking. I prefer packed bitstreams

At least there is a fix for that. Rockchip is all hype, but low performance.
well you are technically comparing two different generations of chips, in fairness the comparison would be RK2706/08 vs Ingenic JZ4732 chip
and this match up should be RK2806 vs CC1600 vs Sochip(and whatever rebrand it goes by)
I am an Ingenics kind of guy. Given that the VX767 used the JZ4740, I would have compared the JZ4740 with the RK2706/2708. The JZ4740 is pretty darn good. Even though it is underpowered, it plays movies smoothly at 480x272. I am still unhappy with the video playback of RK2706/RK2708 players. Maybe my video converter is at fault, but my VX767 plays AVI, WMV, MPEG, ASF, RMVB, FLV very smoothly.
