For those who love Rockchip players, the wait is over. Rockchip will release a new chipset
RK2806. Acording to their info, these chipset will do HD and go head to head with cc1600 chipset. As usual, Ramos will release a few players base on these chipset.

well i cant say i am excited about these new chips from rockchip or chinachip, the problem i find is that it takes a good 8 months for them to be "finished", the 2706 rockhip players took so long to really get to somewhere near where thwey were supposed to be

i am skeptical as the aim for these players is to band around bigger and better numbers, 1080, HD, 720, RMVB HD blah blah blah .. and personally i am not into that, what i want to see is them being able to do all that but in a practical way, if they are to dedicate so much time to video than make them usable, live up to the promises, give us some damn functionality to be able to use these players to their best ability, we keep saying this but this is all de-ja-vu, we were at the same stage at the beginning of last year where ingenics were battling with rockchip about being the best video chip etc etc

i want to see bookmarking on vids, i want to see chapters on vids, full DVD style menus, subtitle support (yes .. its coming i know), i think we are at the stage now where these things need to act like DVD players with all their functionality and more besides, HI-DEF is still not mainstream and wont be for a couple of years yet, so stop the HD crap, make these players play normal DVD res and give that some great functionality and then develop the HD stuff .. hell .. i dont even have an LCD tv let alone any HD equipment

my ten penneth worth but we are at place we were last year .. please china take a chill pill and calm down, give us something beyond the basics and make us some GREAT stuff

Agree 100%. Until the displays on these things hit HD quality, HD video has no benefit over DVD quality. Plus the fact file sizes are huge and it will just eat up precious battery. As you say HD is not even mainstream and won't be for a while, and the players coming out have awful FW and no additional useful features. HD on 4 inches is overkill anyway IMO.

HD has benefit if it plays the right formats like h.264 or mkv, that requires more power tho or a dedicated processor processor. I see a 720p everytime I see std def.

HD does looking pretty amazing, if done properly, but who really wants HD on such a small player. You can barely notice a change in image clarity and resolution

Looking ahead... the plus side to all this is that there is a ceiling with regards to resolution.
Once the hardware for HD vids is commonplace, they'll have no choice but to improve the other aspects of the player!

If we bury ourselves in the snow for a few weeks, we'll wake up in a brighter better future! With working Fast Forward functions and all kinds of other crazy sh!t!
