well...I don't think the CPU that they may use is powerful enough to run a netbook very well. Plus the fact that you can buy an Eeepc 701 with a 900Mhz celeron cpu which would perform much better than the SmartQ 5's processor for a very cheap price nowadays instead. The Netbook market is also very overcrowded already.

give it 6-12 months and we'll start seeing a lot of chinese made netbooks from "unknown" brands. i doubt very much any of them will be running an atom though.

I don't care much about the distro du jour, but I do care about noise. So no Pentium-4 for me.

1) arm processors like smartq has can run all day on a laptop sized battery
2) emulation for games
3) somewhat bigger screen for watching videos

Plus ARM processors will support ubuntu

Yes that would be nice. But not on an ARM 11, as these are meant more for smart phones and MID's. Maybe on a Cortex A8 or A9, but netbook based on these CPU's are already in the pipline and will be released this year. They do sound good. Although the new atom cpus are pretty good at conserving power and being X86 emulation is always possible too.

Not sure about the netbook, it seems SmartQ want to make innovative items, maybe a larger, tablet type of device

You could make a simple USB keyboard+larger screen enclosure running off composite. Not great, but okay for most stuff.
