Changing fonts inside the rockres.bin file

Thanks lurker, i finished every icon that i needed and the purple is an overlay which i think a code in the firmware that cannot be changed. its ok because it still looks a lot cleaner and professional than the base theme.
I've also tried replacing the letters on 1.12 and the font showed but there was some spacing problems, especially letters like M and W, they show up sticking with the next letter. i'm going to need ore experimentation with this one. but anyways my theme is done, every icon that's in the player is changed including games and the wrong ewordings are fixed too. I will upload the .lst that i made and all that is needed to mod this player. the lst would be for 1.10 but it will contain evry icon that is in the player so people will know what to look for, in case they want to do a list on future firmwares. I will also try to explain more about the alpha transparency for those who want ot try modding this player and hopefully we'll have more people modding the player with the lst. It's going to be just replacing images once i upload the complete lst file. I'm also planning to launch my design, which is completely an original design for a theme contest for this player to have more themes for this player (if raz is going to give us one).

How far have you guys got with actually changing the font?? I think I might have found out the locations in the rockres.bin... I'm gonna have a go changing the fonts later (got a test for uni shortly)

Yay! I managed to modify the font itself, and removed the horrible M when it is selected

I've still got a bit more searching to do, but I think I've got most of the locations.

the lst that i made for teclast 1.10 rkw has the 3 fonts in them. i also tried to change the 1.12 font by copying the 1.1 good font and it worked but the fonts are a bit messed up with the spaces because each of the letters has a specific size to it and everything that is outside the specific size will not show. anyways, i'm doing each letter one by one and doing my own letters pixel by pixel and will soon release a base firmware 1.12 with good font. and since i will be using teclast 1.12 with good font i will also try to make the lst file for the 1.12.

Hmm... we should probably communicate things better... it sounds like we're both doing the same thing :P

Also, what do you mean by the three fonts? For English, I count 4 fonts. Two sets of capital letters, and two sets of lowercase letters.

I've been trying to work out the width of the letters which get shown, like how much space we have for each letter. And I'm getting some strange results. Some letters seem to have different widths, for example, A has width 10px visible, while B and C seem to only have width 9px visible. Bboy, have you noticed anything like this?

Is there anyway I could contact you on IM to discuss this??

Hello infernoZeus!

i actually finished making or changing the three fonts which is small medium and large. all three includes the Caps and Low case letters with the most commonly used symbols like the .,';/!@#$%^&*()_+. How i tested each font that i made is i made .txt file using notepad that contained evry Caps and lower case letters including the symbols so i could see the outcome of it on the player.

each font size has an allocated width size even though the width of everything is 16px on 1 bit. i figured out that the largest font uses 10px width while the medium one uses 9px. that was based on my tests. i haven't really messed with the smallest font because it's really not used much but i used the image search editor "editor" to remove the ugly lines on some of thesmall letters. I don't really use IM but i think we have one that was made by lowie in here. i'm not sure if its still up.

But here's the final thing that i will be doing:

I will use the Teclast 1.12 firmware because it memory card integration (it combines music from the card and flash)
I will release the Teclast 1.12 rockres.bin with the ugly UI but better font and correct english words with the .lst file so people could mod it.
I already did a full theme but will i'm just waiting for a contest to release it.

I don't know maderin but i really like this player very much! i don't know but i'm liking it better than my sflo! the whole landscape mode is really good with the external speakers (i don't have to have my headphones on everytime) and the external memory card! sucks that i can't use the tv out because it would be really cool if it did! i'm in the US and does anybody elses work!

if somebody that is more organized than me willing to put up all the things i created and remove the old ones because i don't see any point of using the old ones because it will only confuse people and aybe somebody could organize a tutorial for me because its just very hard to explain evrything. and make it look organized and neat. i'm good with themes but tutorials, not really!

I'm very happy that this is getting very active and i've been getting a lot of support!

Thanks guys and i'm very thankful that i won this player and wait for my complete modded theme very soon!
It's all done, i just need the right time to release it!
