What you see is "screen tearing" and has nothing to do with bitrate.
Basically to speed up screen update the player continuosly update the screen without checking anything.
To avoid this there is a thing called VSYNC,that basically mean that a device must wait the VSYNC signal that tell the software that the previous screen update has finished and it can start the next update of screen.
If they don't wait for VSYNC then you get screen tearing because the screen is still updating the previous frame.
This happen because lcd screen and the cpu works in asynchronous mode, with the screen continuosly refreshing itself.

Rich, where did you get the video that your are trying to run on the OS-81? I've never tried a vid downloaded from the net. Everything I put on my OS-81 are converted from DVDs and there are no tearing effects.

Moe, it's occuring with all video. I mainly record tv shows from my DVB usb stick then convert them. Anything is a couple of dead pixels
!! One is right in middle of the screen ! Anyone have a similar experience.

Actually the screen has a couple of " stuck pixels" as showing constantly white and not black as a dead pixel. Are these fixable ?

Hey mate,
Experiencing some REAL problems with viDrop with your preset for the OS-81.
When I select a file, it just blinks the DOS screen and exits and my source file ends up being about 12KB!!! :| Lost a few AVI files just now..

Edit:- Again, a stupid problem. No suffix for the converted files. Fixed. :o ops:

I'm using Any Video Converter Free. Seems to work fine for me.

Jusy tried Any Video Converter and still the same problem. I'll wait for the firmware and see if that makes a difference, if not then I'll re think whether I'll stick with the player. Considering now there is couple of stuck pixels I'm having second thoughts...
