Heres a shot of the UI:

Image

look familiar?

The player has a lot of cool features, including rotating video from potrait to landscape and (finally) a Optimus player with PLAYLIST Support - not just one, but you can save and load different play lists.

It also has a 1.3mp camera.

I am still not sure what chipset it uses, but it does seem to have 'Rock games' so it might be a rockchip solution - but i am skeptical.

Pricing will be about $105 for the 4GB version and $95 for the 2GB

Looks great! But hopefully it won't end up like the last Optimus Touch screen player :\

Except the name, my friend. There's much to be salvaged there! :D

Did they fix the touch screen bug in this one? Is it newer than the one in the video review?

it isn't the same as the Optimus 1 touch screen player, totally different chipset, UI. The touch screen on this is more sensitive than on the VX player and Hacha, but not as sensitive as the Optimus 1.

However the UI on this is pretty good, well laid out and lots of functionality. The only thing i don't like about this player is the orange button at the bottom.

It also has a mini SD card and is very light.

So does the release of this new touch player mean we will or will not see our "old friend" as stated in the "distant rumblings" thread?

It uses an ankaya (anyanka - don't know the exact spelling) chipset - ak3225mb24403

I haven't made up my mind about the Optimus 1 - with this new player, theres not much point having the 1, especially considering they may be using the same chipset, but the Optimus touch has a much better UI.
