Howdy,

I have a problem that perhaps one of you might know about. I was putting music, movies etc.. on my 301 via the USB and I unplugged the unit like I always do via the "safety remove hardware" Because I read somewhere on this forum that it was best to do it that way.

Anyways, now when I boot it up I get the PMP screen and then It goes black. Green light stays on, it just goes black. I've held the power button down and all other buttons. Still nothing. The reset(aka instant power off)button works fine.

I can still connect it to my computer and the 301 asks me like it should(via the Chinese options) to connect to the computer. And I can still put files on it.

I can get in and replace the Firmware using the right pad and the power on button at the same time. And replaced it with the current firmware several times. Still boots up to the PMP and then nothing.

I guess I'm at a loss of what to do. I thought, maybe my brightness was all the way the down(if thats possible) however if I hold the power on button, it does NOT turn off, it just remains on. The only way to turn it off is the reset button. Maybe if I just let the battery drain, that might revive it. Who knows.

IF you have any suggestions that would be appreciated. I was just using it like I always do. But for some reason or another, this time it's not working.

Thank you in advance for any help that you may give me.

i expect that the FAT might be broken.
and the broken FAT is no more than the problem of software level.
and is can be solved by doing the format jxd301's internal flashes.

there is 2 seperated flash area inside. and we don't know which one makes the problem.
(make sure the SD card is ejected.)

WARNING: this operations may not hurt your 301 but it will delete all of your clips, musics, games, pics.. ETC so you need to back them up before begin.

1. as you said that you can enter the internal flash mode, format with FAT16 2G. you can do this easily in the desktop 'My Computer'.

2. if not solved, do format the firmware-space and reinstall the firmware. this can be done similarry except then you must connect with firmware mode. and you must to reinstall the firmware you have before restart 301.
(the firmware mode is 32MB size and can be formatted into FAT16)

Thank you, Thank you.

That did the trick. I tried to reformat the Firmware area and it didn't work. But as soon as I reformatted the 2Gig space. It booted right up. Interesting. I wonder why it did it in the first place. It would make sense if I was messing with the firmware or skin and such. But I was just transferring music and things.

Weird. I like the unit, even if It does act a little strange sometimes. There should be a thread devoted to just troubleshooting stuff like this. Just so people have easier access to answers, instead of having to search through pages and pages of forums.

Thanks again for your help. Good to know if it happens in the future.

Has everyone that has had this problem been the result of connecting to their computer? I have only connected a very few times when I first got mine. I never connect any more. I just transfer files to my SD card with a reader. I then just cut and paste the files to the spot I want them inside the JXD 301. Could XP be somehow corrupting the 2gig space?

I've connected it several times since I got it fixed the first time(with help). And I cannot duplicate the problem. I don't know what I did differently, but I can't get it to do that again. Maybe it was just a freak thing. Who knows.
