Well, one with XBMC out of the box would sell like hotcakes....but a keyboard would have to be included in the package to work out. I say stick to the stock firmware or pay someone to polish the OS for you a bit, like with full market access and rooting it. Easy to do, many firmwares to choose from already out there.

Now that XBMC 12.0 (Frodo) has gone final, it would be easy to pre-install it and just put the icon on the start screen. No messing with the firmware needed.

can it be made that the HDMI plug is hinged?? just thin king of actually placing this thing, for some the TV is flat to wall and, like our tv, the HDI face out and not down, so if the stick was hinged it would not interfere much with tv placement

No need for a hinge, it comes with an extension cable thats around 6" long so you can place it easily behind your wall mounted TV :)

nice idea to offer the ful package with keys and mouse, i got a great small white set for my brother o use with his RK tab, the tab was also white and made a sexy little pairing, the key and mouse were also micro in size and more than usable

where is this R11 you speak of raz, its not on the shop site??

Its not sold as a stand alone product at the moment, only as add on accessory on the product pages of the Android tv sticks.

I think i would leave it as something for customers to add themselves, we then wouldn't have to deal with any licensing/distribution software issues.

There aren't any licencing issues. It's GPL'd. All they want is an email telling them you're pre-installing it - Commercial Use | XBMC. Still, if you'd rather avoid any legal issues I'm happy to do a guide that you can distribute showing how to install and configure XBMC for the stick.

All I need is one of the sticks.

You see what I did there?

As Matt says, its not licensed...so you can install it at will :) Just do as he says above, its worth the very small effort to have a unique product. This with a keyboard/mouse ot trackpad combo would sell out in minutes if positioned in the right markets(AMAZON!!).

All sounds good to me otherwie all you have is the same as everyone else, a little extra effort to sell a complete package with decent marketing and boom - all in

Dragon and Mad are right. If the stick with XBMC can handle 1080p easily and you package a controller with it you'll sell out so fast.

Right now the only two people doing that are G-Box (which has 0 quality control) and Pivos with the Xios who are the people who sponsored the XBMC Android port. They sell for around $100 and $130 depending on the day and which suppliers have them. Beating them both for value would be easy and beating the G-Box for reliability would super easy. I've not tried the XIOS, so i have no idea what their hardware is like but I'm assuming it works perfect with XBMC seen as it was the official development hardware.

note about xbmc: It seems the team is working on a linux and a android varient. The linux version has better playback but less support for apps.

If you need a reason to look at XBMC maderin1, take a look at the addons ;) .
ps. If you REALLY want to make some money, make a box with a sata adapter inside.... I happen to know a forum of people begging for an arm box with it.
I waslooking to buy one of these sometime and a nationite one intrests me. I'm curious why you didn't go with the quad core variernt though?

if you try the beta builds of xbmc for android they added hardware accelleration by routing the video playback through an app such as mxplayer.
