Well...do yourself a favor and dont read that thread then. It turns out this tab has quite a few small problems that seem to ruin an otherwise good tab. I simply didnt want to deal with it if I was one of the unlucky ones who got a dud. Plus I want an IPS screen, MVA simply isnt as good IMHO.
If yours works fine, count yourself as a lucky one and enjoy it. I just decided not to take the chance.

Buy yourself an iPad... :)
I am not joking, the latest update (the 4th generation, even if they seem to have dropped the progressive numbering of releases for apparently no reason, as it is now much more confusing to tell the different generations apart) is finally very good as it puts together a wonderful screen (what the iPad 2 missed) with a very powerful CPU (what the iPad 3 missed) and a long lasting battery (which was never missing). Next step will be the reduction of weight and thickness (weight in particular is the most critical factor).
I think that the base 16 GB version is not that overpriced considering the top notch hardware that you get...while on the other hand the 100$/200$ increase for 32 GB and 64 GB versions are a complete rip-off, but the base version comes close to reasonable in terms of value.

To be honest, other than the rediculous pricing, I always liked the ipad. Not the lousy Apple infrastructure though. I dont like being locked into anything, and android allows freedom. If I dont like something I can choose something else, simple as that. Apple strangles you, its their way or the highway. The only way out is jailbreaking, and that eliminates one of the best reasons for owning an Apple product, its superior warranty. No thanks, Ill stick with choice :)

Yeah...I also liked it too, mainly for it's "polishness" and the unbeatable hardware/software integration. Never having owned an Apple product up to now, I too may suffer the excessive limitation that their product cater with them. As I wrote above however, I do not think this last one is overpriced: if I recall well from iSupply analysis the production cost is north of 350$, and based on this a 499$ price tag can not be considered ridiculosly high.
Funny how the warranty is perceived differently in different countries: I am in Europe and here Apple is under investigation for not supplying the warranty in accordance with EU laws, that require 2 full years free of charge while Apple supplies only one year and sells the subsequents for a fee...
By the way, election day on your side of the Atlantic...we will only tomorrow morning discover which US president will be for the next four years..as of now Obama seems to have the lead.. ;)

I guess I've had some of the same feelings about Apple. Just wasn't interested in their products going all the way back to QuickTime. Didn't like to convert all my MP3s to their proprietory format. So I missed the boat on the various ipods and ipads. Much happier to buy regular MP3 players for music and MP4's for video.
