You could get away with the itouch powering your HM3 but you would be more satisfied if you used it with something like the E6 which D2K recommended.

Overall the HM3 isn't exactly overly bassy, maybe on par with the M1 if the M1 were headphones.

This is my last "mod", the HM3 with Canare cable, black nylon sleeving and pailiccs 3.5 plug.

Not at all, it's still very comfortable to use... maybe a lot of cable (2,5 meters) but I wanted like this to use with the computer.
