Hi all,

After much research I have just ordered my 1st tablet & I am very excited. Onda VX610W enhanced with ICS - I can hardly wait. I plan to use it for 3G internet, ebook reading, music, voice recording & note taking

Only problem is, I am new to tablets & new to Android & the manual is only available in chinese! I've asked supplier to set to English before shipping & I am told it is pretty simple to use - fingers crossed.

Do any of you Onda owners have an english user guide you could scan or know where I can find on net? So far my searches have been unsuccessful.

Any user guides for Android for absolute newbies?

I plan to use it for 3G internet, ebook reading, music, voice recording & note taking (I've ordered multi resistive screen for this purpose)

Any help would be much appreciated.

HI and welcome

a guide in print form is not much use here, and i can guarantee a translated Chinese to English manual will be all but unreadable and more confusing than ever

basically forget this is ONDA and think ANDROID, now just Google around for" ANDROID USER GUIDE", "ICS USER GUIDE" etc etc as its Android you need to know about and not Onda

basically Android is all over the web, read a few basic guides and just take it a step at a time

good luck and have fun

good luck, have fun and browse around here and other sites like slatedroid etc, there is plenty out there on Android - just take it easy, dont get drawn into custom ROMS rooting and all the geeky stuff, just use it, play with it

first question is this - does this player come with Google Android Market Installed - this is an app that allows you to download and install apps, its not free so its up to Onda if they have a licence for it - if not then your first cal is reading up on different market apps for your tablet

I doubt that Google Android Market is installed as Onda make tablets not phones. I thought maybe I could download required apps from my new android phone then transfer using memory card?

being a tablet does not matter, especially as this is ICS and ICS is for tabs and phones - it sall depends if they have got the licence or not or if they have installed it illegally, market on tabs is normal and many do come with it
yes, you can extract the APK files from your phone and install them manually to the tablet - not sure how that works for paid apps though??

OMG, I've just spent the last couple of hours browsing apps at Android Market & Getjar. I am stunned. There seems to be an app for everything!
I'll be interested to see if I Android Market is installed - it's the only thing I forgot to ask.

Apparently there are ways to get Android Market if I don't have it:
http://colonelzap.blogspot.com.au/2012/ ... t-fix.html
Other users have successfully installed according to comments on next page.

Thanks for your guidance - I am now learning about Android as per your suggestion while I wait for tablet to arrive. It's a whole new world!
