A couple of weeks ago i tried installing what I thought was the latest firmware for the Window N50GT. That firmware worked, but sound didn't. Later that day, I tried re-installing that same firmware but then the touch screen no longer worked. I have since tried a couple of other firmwares (one or two from the manufacturer's website, and Kaze's recently reposted "GT with 3g" firmware). Still, my tablet does not respond to touch input. The tablet does however still work with a keyboard. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated.

mmmmh... are you sure of the installed firmware?... it looks like a DT firmware in a GT machine...

try this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?87qxb04q9eicy6x

It is a No 3G fw. And in the updater try both "upgrade" and "restore"...

i noticed the other day, after visiting a link to imp3 from here to a firmware that it mentioned the N50GT-A - now, not sure if that was the programmers version number or if it referenced an updated GT version - not sure really

So if I had to guess, you probably have the N50GT_A. I can't say for sure, but it looks like the N50GT_A uses the realtek ALC5633 for audio, and not the Realtek ALC5621 as all the previous versions of the N50 use. It also could use different touch panel software/controller as well. why do I say this? look at the description under the N50GT_A firmware in maderin1's link above. the important part is the end "corresponding the Depu Te TP, ALC5633 N50GT_A"

Depu Te TP= De Pute Optoelectronic Technology Co. touch panel
ALC5633= Realtek ALC5633
N50GT_A= the new model name

my guess is the A stands for audio, as in new audio codec. As seeing that this is the only N50 firmware that is labeled with the A, my guess is that you can only use that particular firmware.

Also, as to why audio stopped working on the first flash, and then the touchscreen on the second, did you select 'upgrade' on the first flash, and 'restore' on the second? upgrade simply overwrites the parts of the firmware that the updater sees as different. 'Restore' rewrites EVERYTHING in memory. When you selected 'Upgrade', the Updater saw that your audio codec (ALC5633) was different from the one in the firmware (ALC5621) and only overwrote the audio software. When you selected 'Restore', it overwrote everything, including whatever minor changes were made to the TP.

So long story short, try to download and flash the N50GT_A-2.3-20111222-DZ-SDK2.1. It's the only firmware that has the right audio and touchpanel software for you.

Good find madmachinist. Window seem to make changes on this model with almost every production run.

It didn't work. The touch screen still does not respond. Where can I get the factory default N50GT firmware?

Did you select upgrade or restore? If you got it from guachinneguar's link above, that is the factory firmware. Just make sure that you get the firmware that matches your version of N50, as there are 4 different versions, the N50, N50dt, N50gt and the N50gt-A.
