Hi all,

I recently purchased an mp4/mp5 player from chinavasion, however it has since been taken down from their site. From checking the firmware which was supplied on the cd and from looking at the processor, i am guessing it is a varient of the Jren JR-866

http://www.jren.com.cn/enproduct.asp?pc_id=23&pcname=MP5%20PLAYER

The specs from the old chinavasion listing were:

Touch Buttons
Memory: 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, SD Card (Max 2GB)
Display: 3.0 Inch LTPS TFT
Movie formats: MPEG 4 AVI, MPEG1 standard DAT, MPEG2 standard VOB, MPG, Real Player3, RM, RMVB, FLV
Music Format: MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE
FM radio: 87.5~108.0MHz
Dimension: 60×97x12mm (LxWxD)
Manufacturer Ref.: U5MCX6PF6LGY

The player is generally good, although it tends to struggle with ensuring video and sound are in synch on some video files.

The firmware is 9.5.5 and is easy to update with the mguires firmware. I was also able to load and run the Gemei x750 (9.3.5) firmware although it seemed to mess up the colours.

The main issue with the player is it frequently has an error after about 15 mins of use (video or ebook) and appears to stick on the 'up' button. this generally requires a reset to solve it. Probablt the reason it no longer appears on the chinavasion website!

Any help, links to more up-to-date firmware etc. much appreciated. I shall also aim to upload my firmware somewhere incase it can help others.

Cheers

looks like a blackfin player, you can try and load the JXD 301 or Ainol V2000 firmware and see they improve your player.

You may want to copy your old firmware and back it up before you try and swap it for another one.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. All of the various blackfin firmwares appear to work fine, however this is only the case if the Main.ldr file is used from my original 9.5.5 firmware. I assume the other files are simply changing the themes and menu layout which is cool, but might not solve the sticky key or encoding issues, but i shall research any way.

I presume that the Main.ldr file contains the button config which will stop other firmwares from working unless the button layout is the same.

Any suggestions welcome. Has anyone found a way to edit the main.ldr file?

Cheers
