Hello,
I am a happy owner of a Novo8. I have been looking into the many other Ainol Tablets and have noticed the flood of Novo7s that are out. Does anyone know of a site that compares the different models? The models that I have seen are:

Basic
Advanced
Elf
Paladin
Aura

I am really curious why Ainol is putting out so many models at once and would like to see the differences in them.

welcome to the world of chinese media player
putting out many models is not uncommon, in fact its very common, they cover all bases, they offer diff screens sizes, high res and low res version, capacitive and resistive versions etc etc - this is why its a game of chance with a china based company because 90% of these will fall by the wayside pretty quickly and new ones will come along

anyway ...
have a look at the English-speaker site for the ainovo brand (ainol) http://www.ainovo.com/product.html

Thanks for the site. I actually like the variety because I can choose a tablet that has what I want and not pay for stuff i don't. I guess it is just important to research the different models and make sure to order the model you want (and receive that model.) So far I have had good fortune with my Novo8. Luckily their are many updated roms out there for it.

They certainly are not giving up on the A10 - The Ainol Novo Aurora is the highest speced of the bunch. The only thing the Legend has over it is the full sized usb port. On my A7A - I use a $1 adapter, like the rest of these do for USB host, it's not a big deal.

With those MIPS processors, you have to be careful about app compatibility and they don't live up to the advertising. IE - those devices aren't really 1080P capable except for very specific files.

The Aurora is the same as the Novo 7 Advanced, except it has a better 1024x600 IPS screen and 1GB of RAM. The Elf has the same specs, except it's thicker - and the screen is not a wide angle IPS.

In my opinion, the Elf and the Aurora are their only tablets worth considering.

Yep, the Aurora is the only one to go for IMO. The MIPS CPU's are a waste of time due to poor app compatibility and the Hitachi IPS display on the Aurora is probably the best 7 inch display on any Chinese tab even beating out quite a few big name manufacturers' 7 inch offerings as well.

The main short coming of most of these Ainol ARM based tabs is the Allwinner CPU, which is built on a pretty lowly, now out dated single core Cortex A8 architecture. The GPU is good though and graphics performance is acceptable so not a complete disaster, but again this is a budget low end tablet so expecting lightening fast super smooth performance would be stupid anyway. Looks like a decent runner for the price if you can get it for around $170.

Although the beastly quad core Asus MeMo 370T is said to be coming to to the US in Q2 at the crazy price of $250. If I was you i'd wait and save for that as it will completely decimate any Chinese and in fact most big manufacturer offerings on the market.

Let's hope that is true, but for me, that is as true as the lumens in cheap led flashlights :p
