I set up a RMA...But what airmail do they seriously expect me to use? At this point I've established that the M4 is the problem after going through my Zune and a 2nd J3. Sending a small envelope to Hong Kong is going to be in the $20s at least, just for shipping. Not to mention the time it'll take to get it back. I guess this looks like the last time I buy from MP4nation or a Brainwavz product... To make matters worse I wasted Amazon's time because I was too eager to give the M4s the benefit of the doubt. Oh yeah, and customs too without any sort of a waiver. It doesn't seem worth the time or money anymore.

Seems to be an isolated case. First I've heard of this. Sorry that happened.

I was probably too rash in my last post, but I still won't be buying through MP4nation again. I've just realized that the gold plating (?) on the 3.5mm male connector is worn, which would explain the problems. Like I said before, the M4 doesn't seem to have as good of build quality as the M1 aside from the shelling. Hopefully this was an isolated case and no one else will run into it with further use. Meanwhile I'm looking towards the TF10s

I have a set of M4's on the way, Im glad I have some hybrid style tips from my ProAlpha's that got eaten(damn relatives dog...) wide mouth tips tend to not work so well with my ears, where hybrids work GREAT.

cant wait to compare these directly to my turbines and other IEM's :)

Looking forward to your impressions.

got my m4's and m2's today.
i have had an m2 for almost a year now but needed to send it back since one ear stopped working. i didn't want to do that and have no (gooood) alternatives so i ordered another m2 and an m4 at the same time.
i put the new units in a splitter cable so they have been reproducing sound for the exact same amount of time.

initial listening comparisons.
all i can say is. i loooved my m2's. but. these m4's make me want to reconsider what i appreciate in audio reproduction.
they have better instrument separation, detail, clarity, and soundstage from my *amateur ears*.
the m4's seem to also extend deeper in bass. as in subbass. the bass in the m2 is different from that in the m4. it's like the m2 bass mixes with some midrange so sounds like a piano and guitar are colo(u)red whereas in the m4 there is a separation. i don't know the right words to describe the difference in vocals because like i said. i'm an amateur when it comes to this audio thing. but. there is definitely a difference.

so yes. those are initial comparisons after about an hour of use.

*i say amateur because apart from cheapo walmart ones the only good pair of earphones/headphones i have had are the proalpha, m2, and superlux hd668b. i lost the proalpha so soon after i got them that i can't remember what they sound like so i can't compare*

sorry for the lack of attention to grammar and punctuation. i'm in a hurry and needed to put my thoughts down before i forgot.
oh and. regarding build. i feel like i could break the m4 cables at anytime so i have to be extra careful. can't untangle them anyhow like i used to do my m2's is how i felt. but they might prove otherwise with time.

Good way of putting it, I agree. Thanks for the impressions, much appreciated. Please leave more, after you log some burn in time, see if you think there's a difference or not.

about 6 hours now. popped them in out of curiosity.
my ears are in a conundrum.
here's why.

call me crazy but bass wise. i believe the m4's beat the m2s. that sub bass did the trick. (meaning they work for dubstep)
i think the m2's "forward-esque" midrange is what makes it seem like it has more bass.
but depending on the type of music i'm listening to, i find there can be much going on in this mid section that the m4's don't convey. (like a loootta guitars. minus bass guitar). when i say they don't convey these sounds i don't mean they are absent.
i can hear it clearly on the m4's but on the m2's it's "in your face you can't possible miss there's this sound here" obvious.
this makes me lean in favor of those who say the m4 midrange is a bit recessed.
but then again. this is compared to the m2.
though that doesn't seem to affect vocals in the least bit to my ears.

I agree about the recessed mids, it's strange though, sometimes the mids sound recessed but at other times they are not, it really depends on what you are listening to. Like yourself, the vocals sound fine to me.
