Actually, I've been using them in my studio for the full six days I've had them now, and found them up the sound signature of over $400 sets of headphones...

Which headphones did you compare them to in the studio?

My regular use monitors are the Sennheiser HD-600's,simply because I can rebuild them almost completely...we can be pretty hard on our equipment at times ;) It dosent hurt that they have a great sound sig either. I'm currently auditioning the 650's...but like the 600's a bit better, the 650's are coloring the sounds a bit too much for my taste. I also have a pair of ATH-M50's...but think the 600's are better. I'm no pro here,I use what has been recommended to me by folks who have been doing this far longer than I, and I always appreciate learning as much as I can to help facilitate my studios operation.

D2k, nice to know you like these so much! Can you give me an idea on the specs? How sensitive are they? similar specs to the hm3 or harder to drive?

Another great review D2K, i am with Rowor, your reviewing is getting better with every review, thats not to say there was anything wrong in the first place either.

I am really glad you enjoy the HM5 and the sound that they provide, i really feel that they will be a big hit, especially as they work well with almost any genre of music. The headband does start to loosen up with more use, but it still stays quite nice and firm giving enough force to make a good seal.

I just want to add that with the included accessories for the first production batch will be a carrying case, we were not going to have this as first but our intended packaging for the HM5 will not be ready in time, so we are going to use the carrying case as the main packing.

I dont have the specs yet,but they dont need an amp to get their best sound, unlike the HM3's which benefit from a nice jolt of power.Thats always been a strong advantage to using monitors, standard lower powered output is all thats really needed.Of course,if you have a nice amp,it can help you to tune the HM5's to your liking...so it really is up to you ;)

Quite right, these can work with many portable devices and although the sound will not be as full they still sound very good and deliver a more than satisfactory volume, this is why they come with a 1.2m cable so that people can choose to use them with whatever their portable rig is.

Thanks,Raz. I am having a real nice time learning all about whats makes a great headphone/iem,and am grateful for all the nice designs here that have helped me along the way :)
As for that carry case, heres some nice pics ;) The case is quite large(cant blame Raz for not wanting to use it,its overkill).Theres no worries about shipping, though, theres a ton of padding in there :)

nice. I was really going to pull the pin on a set of hm3's but I think the hm5's will suit me better (as I use portables mostly and my e7 with my touch). Nice to hear they are a little more sensitive than the hm3's, my ONLY issue with them. I would not be wearing them out and about, mainly for home and at work. Looking forward to what these will cost. Monday, right Raz?

What about the preorder, will they be as the HM3?

Love the carrying case, do you have something similar for the HM3?

It would be interesting if you had headphone stands aswell...

That would be the big case, but we just got word the packaging we are working could be done in time, but i guess it will be one of those last minute things which is quite common for us haha.
