who knows, the whole market is jst a bit of a jumble right now
but look out for reviews on the NOVO 7 Advanced as it seems a bargin, but you may need to mess somewhat to get the performance and not sure what the market situation is on all these tabs
N12 seems ok on paper but who knows
personally i dont envy people looking for tabs right now - i want one but really cant be arsed to play the game

If the OP hasn't already, probably worth reading the "Is it worth investing..." thread a couple posts down from this one. Lots of interesting views in there, but perhaps not as helpful for solving the problem at hand.

I think this A10 platform in the Novo7 is too new to warrant throwing cash at, but that's just me.

It's true that there's the usual mind-bending choice of products from Chinese brands, but also true that it's pretty much all Rockchip 2918 at this moment. They're the only ones to have a decently sorted solution that the bigger brand names can plug into their boxes and sell with zippy catchphrases like "SDK 2.0" and "3.0 UI".

Otherwise, I'd probably be looking at a lesser known brand (or whitebox) with the Samsung PV210. I could be so very wrong, but the PV210 strikes me as very capable, well-sorted, and with the possibility of hooking into a mod or few if you find a community and have the desire and skills to deal with rooting and whatnot.

From there, you go to the cheapo boxes that modding enthusiasts buy for, umm, their cheapness and attack with gusto. Dragon2knight talks a little about that in the post I mentioned earlier.

And if I just had to buy a tablet but really couldn't decide or figure it out, I'd just search for a device with a big and/or active support community and throw my lot in with them...nothing beats a forum full of geeks getting their geek on. Seek shelter with the experts.

...and sorry, that doesn't really answer your question either :P

The thing with the new lower priced chips/tablets is that they are new, this for China tablets is an actual flaw, as new tablets tend to always come with a chalk full of issues. The benefit of choosing Ainol over say Cube or a generic is that Ainol does release to some extent firmware updates for major issues with the initial firmware, but even Ainol are not committed to providing more than a few initial update.

Now with older China tabs on the market you have a better idea of where they stand, firstly most of those tabs will have got all the official updates they will ever get from the company manufacturing them, but what you more want to be interested in is the level of community support and development. Chendude makes a good recommendation of the Samsung PV210 tablets, like the Corepad7, this tablet has been around for over half a year, there is solid community support still behind it and the tablet itself is pretty sound in build quality.

Now on your price point....well the above two points probably doesn't make it much easier to choose a tablet, but if your is a push comes to shove position and really need to pick a sub $150 tab then my recommendation for a safe bet would be any Rockchip RK29 based tablet.

I can give and more than $ 150 , but I do not see much point. I need a tablet with a 7-8 "screen , because I did not see fit to carry my laptop everywhere .

Go with the cube. It is a little cube of awesomeness.
