Many thanks, chengdude!
Do you know, could we add bluetooth to this tablet by solder some chip in it? And what chip exactly?

No idea, but I don't think it quite works that way :P

There is actually an open slot on the board by the WiFi module, but I'm not expert enough to know what it was meant for. I would guess it's for GPS since you can combine WiFi/Bluetooth using an integrated module...Teclast T760 (also RK291 8) uses one, for example.

I think we can connect any USB Bluetooth dongle to internal USB Hub of the device, add kernel modules for that dongle and that's it ) So this way with any 3G modem - even to make calls, if the modem supports voice.

What's the slot form factor? Mini-PCI? O_o

Maybe I should disassemble this baby...

Sorry, "slot" is not the right word. I used it to mean "place", as in it's just an open space for mounting a chip. I counted 12 pins in a 5 + 7 arrangement on two sides (24 pins total).

Actually it probably does work that way, but you might have to add additional components if some might be missing, in addition if the firmware doesn't have the right drivers already in there you are probably SOL. Too many unknowns I would think.

My photos of Window N50 may be interesting for some people.

It will be interesting to add a gps chip in order to use the tab in the car...

That's kinda what I meant without taking the time to explain the additional issues...not just plug 'n play. Thanks for clarifying :) Also, I would think you'd need point-to-point (pin-to-pin?) matching between the board & chip, no?

Almost certainly more hassle than it's worth.

Great to see some development on this, but still having trouble deciphering whether this tab is actually worth the money. Still on the fence, lots of mixed reports coming in.

With almost no chance of a 4.0 upgrade on this either and once released properly what is bound to be a tsunami of 4.0 tabs coming out of China early next year I'd imagine, it is hard to know even whether its worth buying a cheap tab like this now

Already decided to hold off on a phone until 4.0 upgrade paths are established. Xioami in January maybe still looking like the best offline option if it actually ever materialises. The prospect of a properly hardware accelerated UI is just too good to pass up.
