hi folks,

i've read the reviews posted and been following the thread.

before i part with my cash, genuinely how usable is this? it's going to be for a seven year old so it will be games and videos mainly.

i'm not after perfection but generally 'easy to use' on the less demanding games will be brill.

any honest views?

chris

Ok, I've only had my N50 for a few days, but here is my opinion for what its worth.

I'm new to android, but like messing around with computer stuff so.........

After receiving the N50 and figuring out how it works, where things are located, I then upgraded the firmware to Kaze's version. I only had one bug that I noticed in the original firmware, and that was with a micro sd card installed, whenever the screen timed out, I'd have to press the reset button and restart my N50.
After the reflash, it hasn't done this.

Now on to how it would work for a 7 year old......
If you work with the N50, set it up, install the games and music, I'd say your 7 year old wouldn't have a problem getting around and listening to music, watching videos, and playing games.
However, if you plan on buying one and letting your child figure it out and install their own stuff........
I think they would get frustrated trying to figure it out.
Now I may be wrong, but my 10 and 12 year old sons like mine, and can find anything on their they want to watch or play, but I think they would have a hard time figuring it out on their own.

Just my $.02

Oh, by the way, both my kids say they want their own N50 for Christmas!

thanks for the answer :) it's what i was hoping to hear.

will be ordering asap :)

Some really good info on this thread. Looking at the last couple of posts, i never gave much thought into giving an android tablet to any of my younger nephews before, but this actually makes a lot of sense. I ususally gave them PMPs as presents in the past. But, I've spent much of my time making actively hiding my MIDnite tablet from them. LOL. Before I gave it away, when they saw me with my tab, they'd try to get a turn. Nope. Not taking the chance of them doing something to brick my $220 tablet.

But at a price point cheaper than $150 for these 5" Window and Cube tablets is a bit easier to work with. I also think if I could get one w/ a few Android games on it, they could figure out how to use a Window N50. I personally don't like the stock Android music and video app, so I'd probably install PlayerPro and MoboPlayer.

The only problem is that I wouldn't want to give my nephews anything w/ my credit card info in Android Market settings. I don't mind getting them initially set up, but I really don't want them buying stuff on my card that I don't know about.

I have my N50 set up where I have a few widgets on my home page.
Everytime I shut off the N50 and restart, the widgets are gone. I have to manually restart them.
Is this a normal thing?
