Yeah I can't imagine these will be hitting actual bricks and mortar store shelves soon, Maplin possibly but thats the only store in the UK that springs to mind that would consider selling this type of thing, they sell some much less powerful junky chinese tabs already.

@ Maderin I do wish them luck too, crossed my mind many a time too and thought the same about not being happy to sell any china tabs in the UK until some of the recent batch. I just feel that while they seem to be on top of the software side of things which is amazing in itself I think the design and branding has been neglected . As well as the products themselves this could have also potentially been the launch of a strong brand identity for the company too. But with a name like Andypad and the cheap look/colours and toy like feel they have gone for it will immediately lead many to discount these as another pair junky cheap tablets. Many people had already discounted them as junk in the Engadget comments just by reading the name and seeing the pics.

Strong design/branding & more thorough consideration of the product range would have gone some way in creating a more upmarket/higher quality public image and perhaps appealed to not only the low end of the market despite the low price tags.

An example of this is a company like Edifier....http://www.edifier-international.com/

Relatively unknown but showing through their branding/website and product design that they mean serious business. After reading many reviews, I bought a pair of their R1600T speakers a while back, the best £65 I ever spent, was blown away by the sound, build quality and design for such a low price. Look far more expensive then they were.

yeah - i read that yesterday and TBH its exactly what i expected, i know you spoke to the guys on email but from the way they seem to like hiding the fact these tabs are essentially "off the shelf" makes me think they are trying to be something they are not, and also remember the factory they are dealing with, i can imagine the factory saying YES to anything they ask, but remember how much hard time the guy from Pasen had, nearly gave him a breakdown!!

its all a little too "tots TV" to me, if you see what i mean, plus, they are aiming these at the kind of people that dont know what a ROM is, the kind of people that own flat TV but dont know what HD is .. the kind that want it to work out of the box, having to rely on ROM builders for perfection is not the image this company is projecting

as for the base mode, its always been a P71, not sure why they told the modaco guy otherwise, maybe because the PRO was obvious as it was more well known

shame also is that many buyers believe these are British made tabs, the kind that say all chinese stuff is rubbish and suddenly they are buying one, its quite irritating to watch from the outside

anyway, they have a lot to prove and obviously need to work on the firmware - but we will see what joe public thinks and the press/tech press think as they will not be generous if its truly bad - well, bad compared to the 400-800 pound tabs they usually review

My PC speakers in the office and home are Edifer, they make some very good speakers, i got both my edifer speakers from small PC part stores about 4 years ago, back then they were very low priced and were not seen anything above generic/cheapy, but the store owner sold me on how good the sound was from them and good build quality, 4 years later i am still a happy Edifer speaker owner and they have never once given me any issues.

They've become much more popular over the last 2 years, but their latest offerings seem to be mimic designs from Logitech and H&K.

Sounds like they ran with the stock firmware with some colors/app changes but no real under-the-hood changes.

well thats the way it seems, contrary to their claims of in house developments
seems also that the device is clocked to run at a steady 1gHz rather than is powering down or up depending on what is needed, meaning more battery could be eeked out of cpu management was better
not sure how well the development is gonna go down on this or if the modaco guys want to really mess with it or not - time will tell

Yeah my speakers are amazing, so pleased. Don't even have a good sound card but the sense of space and depth they have added to the sound as compared to my old speakers blew me away especially for the price. Music sounds so much better and more enjoyable now.

Yeah the stock Teclast FW has those awful odd looking colours in the menus too, I suppose they may have been trying to rush it to market and may implement some proper FW changes after people start receiving their units.

Thing is it starts to make me wonder how good the Rockchip android implementation actually is after all. The T760 was supposed to be one of the better ones from the Rockchip crop, but now some one with solid FW dev experience has finally done an actual in depth comprehensive review i'm starting to think otherwise. Really need some more reviews like this of Chinese devices, so we get down to the real nitty gritty.

Still think something like the cube U15 or window N50 is a much better investment, due to the lower price. I think the RK2918 will be eclipsed soon. Would be interested to see how much improvement this SDK 2.0 business brings though.

I've got my fingers crossed w/ these Andy Pads. All they need to do is take the time to put together their own custom firmware and post it clearly on their website so that customers can update their tabs. Sometimes I look around for firmwares and the sites look so shady, I'm worried I'm going to download a virus.

For example, if I but a cheap Dell desktop, I can always to the Dell site and get drives and info on it and I feel comfortable downloading their files since it's their official website.

I'd really like the Andypads to do the same w/ a custom firmware for their rebranded Teclast tablets with clearly written instructions on how to flash your tablet.

they are still finding their feet and still learning about these tabs themselves - some development fro reputable source will be happening here http://android.modaco.com/forum/536-and ... modacocom/ and they clain that ICS will be coming soon, as sere has said, the close inspection of this RK based tab ahs revealed some possible glaring coding cockups and that, with a bit of tweaking it could .. and i say COULD be sorted, but my guess is that these modaco guys aint played with too many china pads and may not find it so easy going - we wil see

Well I'm rooting for these guys so I'm going to be patient. TBH it would be great for their customers if they can first stabilize their Gingerbread firmware these Andypads currently have so that they have a good starting point. Then focus on ICS. I get the feeling that 2.1 is already being phased out for newer apps, so focusing on 2.3 would help out the average guy who may be buying an Andypad as their first Android tablet.

Oh i am sure the rk inplementation of android could be better and probably has optimization issues, but the overall implementation is far better than the android ports for other chips.
