well if you find some prices let us know before you buy, we cant links shops as many that sell PMP also sell tabs and other similar items - so sorry about that
the HDT will be hard to find, as you know, ebay may have some but we have seen inflated prices as people tried to cash in on this player popularity, same goes for the HDA to a lesser but similar extent
dont rule out the ondas yet, while they dont look as slick the boss at mp4nation swears that of all the companies they sell that onda has the lowest return and fail rates, better than ainol, teclast etc - so keep that in mind - of course its swings and roundabouts, mp4nation only really got the best models from their ranges where possible

I didn't rule out Onda because of any problems, but rather that I couldn't find much information on the models I was looking at (540 Touch, 550). I found brief summaries but no user testimonials like I've seen for other players on forums including this one. I hate to leave behind models that are possibly good just because I don't know much about them, but I don't see any advantage to them over what I've selected here that would make me take the risk. I know I'd like the Ainols or the Cube, so I'd be happy making a good purchase of one of them and wouldn't mind missing out on an Onda. The two Onda models talked about here often at MP4Nation, and thus the ones I know a good amount about, the 590 and 610, each break one of my rules. The 590 doesn't have HDMI out, and the 610 is 7 inches. I considered 7 inch models for a while, but in the end I really want something that will fit better in my pocket. I know a 7 in model will fit, but not comfortably.

As a side note - I read another thread here yesterday about an upcoming PMP from iRiver called the P8. It uses the SC9800 and has ridiculously good battery life (9 video, 40 audio). I don't know much about this, but do you think it's worth waiting for that? I am not sure it would even be available to me, but it's worth checking.

iriver are Korean and very stylish and make good players (sometimes) - they like chinese hardware and many or their player are using similar popular chinese tech, they just make a better job of packaging it all up - but, it will be pricey, twice the price of the chinese ones

Ended up getting the Cube H880FHD. Arrived about 2 weeks after ordering it, came with tons of accessories I didn't expect, all for $130 shipped. Really happy with it so far. Thanks to the guys above for the help.

Good to hear that you were able to find a PMP. These are the last days for these devices. That Cube player is a good choice.

The Cube H880FHD is a 4.3" button operated PMP. No touch screen. I think it came with BBE sound feature.

looks good glad that you purchased it now - a few questions

1)can it be operated by remote controller when outputting to TV easily ?

2)does it allow for ext subtitles [.srt,.sub/.idx,.smi ] to be displayed from files usually AVi/MKV - any issues displaying subs from mkv/avi/mp4 files if you noticed...?

3)can it also allow you to select audio from multi-audio file streams in MKV/mp4 files ?

4)can it be operated [viewing movie ,listening to audio etc] when connected wall outlet via usb-charger at the same time ?

I have unfortunately run into my first problem with this unit. There's no Cube subforum so I'll post my problem in my thread and hope somebody can help me out.

I finally purchased a mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter so I can use the HDMI out function on this player. I plugged the adapter into the device and the HDMI cable into the adapter and television. I then selected HDMI as my TV format and selected TV as the Output Select, and the Cube's screen turned off as if the television was about to be used, but no picture showed up on my TV. Instead, my TV displayed the message "Mode Not Supported". Any idea on what is going on here? My HDMI cable works fine, and the HDMI input works fine. My TV supports 1080p. I can't imagine the mini-HDMI adapter has a problem. I am afraid that my Cube has the same problem I read about with the Ainol 8000 series where the HDMI would only output PAL instead of NTSC and therefore was not useable in North America for TV out. I don't see any options for resolution or PAL/NTSC type in the settings. I can only choose HD component, HDMI, and Composite PAL. The fact that there is a "composite PAL" option increases my fears.

Any help? Do I simply need to update firmware or something? Where can I get firmware upgrades for this player?

I haven't been able to test this yet due to the fact that I can't get it to output HDMI to my TV. See what I wrote above.

I don't have any video files with external subtitles, but I'd be willing to test one if you can upload a sample video with subtitle for me to download.

I don't have any multi-track files on my Cube, but I see an option to select track while playing a video. Again, I'd be willing to test a sample for you.

Yes. If it's plugged into a USB wall-charger, you can still use it at full functionality. Same goes for the DC charger that came with my unit. However, if you connect your Cube to a PC to charge, it automatically becomes a USB mass-storage device and CANNOT be used to play videos/songs at the same time.
