Just got my V90 from Amazon today (damn quick delivery, well impressed) and I am enclosing it in my car.

My problem is that when running a satnav program (igo primo) and then switching the ignition off and back on, well the unit goes to sleep as it should but the satnav programs will not auto restart.

I've tried navigon as well but just the same, the issue is that the unit is going to be fully enclosed so pressing the hardware on/off button will be impossible once it's fully enclosed.

Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Mark

You mean the V90 won't turn on while connected to the car charger?

v90 plugged into car charger.

Ignition on, press power button to activate unit and the start the gps program running, no problems.

Stop car, turn off ignition and the gps software puts the unit to sleep as it has detected that the power has been shut-off

Once again, that's fine.

Start car back up but the satnav doesn't start back up again, just get a white screen. There is power going to the unit but the only way to get the satnav program back is to hard reset the V90.

That make sense :D

Be careful, from what i know, you should not have it connected when you turn the ignition on and off, it could caused the electric shock to the unit.

Are you serious

A satnav unit that can't be connected whilst you switch the ignition on and off, no disrespect intended here but either you have misread my post or just picked me up wrong

odd one, in effect you are charging the unit my having it plugged in, i would imagine what should happen is the device should stay on when you cut the power as it should have some battery left

Exactly, however what I need is a gps program that when the ignition goes off, the gps program knows this so puts that unit to sleep, as soon as you put the ignition back on, the gps automatically starts up.

Now Igo primo does this, goes to sleep OK but crashes on wake up, same with the other programs I've tried :-(

I have a dedicated satnav unit (garmin) and it does everything properly (sleeps on ignition off & wake up with ignition on) and most other satnav units I have owned have done the same.

I am just wondering if it is because this is running on wince6 or because it's not a dedicated satnav?

Appreciate the help here :)

yes, it will be because it running winCE and is essentially a small tablet with programs on, now, these devices are very popular with modders as they can add new interfaces and programs and functions etc to them, maybe google chinese GPS etc will bring some results as to how to get the functions that you need

Are you running your program through wince interface or the Onda GPS interface?
