nice work with the icons but i would say for creating icons quickly use the following program. your icon are nice but, with having only one image size of 128px do not have the multiple sizes needed by XP to display them at their best.

windows .ico files actually can consist of several images at various sizes and color depths (see screen shot below), this is so i can select the required icon depending on how your system is set.

this is an excellent dedicated icon maker.
it allows you to create full color XP icons with transparent backgrounds, and at the click of a button will create an icon with multiple image sizes and color depths, see image screen shot below:

it allows you to add effects, drop shadows, and the reflections i used in my icons were all done in mere seconds, photoshop is great and i use it for work, but it is overkill for this little job

That is awesome!! :D It been some time since I've done icons and I used to use Microangelo to make them in various sizes. Thx a lot for the information. I will get right on it and remake the icons.

Thanks to maderin1's suggestion, I have changed the icons to support all the sizes for Windows and improved the general quality of them. I have edited my original post to include the correct link to the zip files with the new icons.

Just in case that you are lazy enough not to go up, here is the link :D

Hi Xaveri,

Nice work on these icons, thanks for posting this. I use Ubuntu Linux 99.9% of the time at home. I'll bet there's a way to create custom icons for Linux systems... I'll see if I can find out through the Ubuntu forums. Not sure if anyone else uses Linux on this forum, but if I find out a similar technique to create custom icons for Linux, I'll post it.
