Flashed the original ACHO C901 ROM back onto my tab, using the tools. Was easy to do, but still didn't fix the volume problem. Guess it's hardware related. Also, does anyone know of a good, free webDAV app for 1.5, besides DavDrive Lite?

Don't know what to offer here TWP. weird indeed. As I said, maybe the FW corrupt, or maybe just hardware failed. maybe try reflash back to donalson's fw, or other custom fw, see what happens, no hurts anyway.

Well, I did 2 different reset techniques for the donaldson cooked ROM = no go. Flashed, using the tools back to the original = no go. Perhaps moisture did get in there. This player has been sitting for quite some time. I'm always on my home PC, haven't been using it. It's been in a dry location though. The air conditioner runs nearly non stop. Not really sure here...

When you've had it open have you noticed the state of your capacitors?
I had, actually still do have, a Sega Game Gear and the capacitors went south in it due to age and leaking and caused it's sound to tank.
Not saying it is the problem but maybe something to look at when you have it open next.

I did give it a good look over, and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I also tried formatting the player, and micro sd, but didn't do any good. Well, actually some good, in the sense that the volume levels seem to have gone up, but still no external speaker though. Oh well, at least you can still use it with ear phones.

Another thing to try is get another speaker. hook it up with alligator clips and see if it works. Just to rule out a bad speaker.

Always a possibility, I suppose, but just seems odd that it worked when I last used it. I guess moisture could have been an issue, but hard to believe sitting in an air conditioned house.

Sometimes parts just expire. Like I mentioned with the Game Gear, those parts selfdestructed. You may not have done anything to it and just by having it exist exposed to air will start to degrade components.
Granted where you said you had it, is a great evnvironment to have it in. But sometimes your the bug and sometimes your windshield. If that makes any sense to you.

Yeah, who knows really. Another funny thing, unrelated, was that I fired my Onda VX555HD up tonight, for the first time in months, and the movies were corrupted, lol. They would get pixelated. I don't mean like from low bitrate files pixelated, I'm talking PIXELATED here. I put a different FW in, same thing. I replaced the same movies, fresh from the computer. Problem solved. Guess I need to use my players more. I use my OS-72HR every night.

That is strange. Been any increase of sun spots in your area. lol
But, seriously have to wonder why that would happen.
I wonder if a static discharge could be the culprit?
If you do manage to figure out the why or the how of your problem, I'd be very interested in the cause and/or solution.
