vx747 owners - need advice on how images are used

i am lookng to make a skin for this player but i do not have it to se how all the images are actuallt used on the player itself

the main thing i need to know is about the main menu background image

is thhis image ONLY used on the main menu or is it usd again on other screens, like submenus etc. I see there are other images similar to the main back that is sort of split down the right side

i ask cos i want to make a man menu that fully integrate with the icons and does not look like a pic with icons hovering over it nd this involves making the background blend with the icons, so basically the back image would look odd without the icons above it - hard to explain but basically - is the man back only used in main menu

thanks, its hard to know when you do not have the player to see how and where the images popup in the firmware itself

Yes the main background is all by itself.
There are two other images used and they are actually a copy of a cretin portion of the main background pic.
Picture A. Main background is 400x200
Picture b. is copied on the right side of the main background 139 x 240
Picture c. is a copy of the left side of the main background 261 x 240 and its best to cover it in gray and then make the gray translucent.
But any way 139 + 261 =400 thus 400 x 240.
Man I hope this makes sense I have had a couple of drinks today, so sorry if this makes no sense. I can post some pics tomorrow to better illustrate what I'm saying.

Because the Icon are just applied by the player over the backgroun image.
Your idea sounds like its outside the box

UNFINISHED SKIN - WILL UPDATE WHEN DONE

This is what i am trying to achieve, it is basically a rip of the Ainol v950 interface, turned round etc, not ready, but you can see what i mean here in that the grid lines are actually on the background image and would look daft without the icons, the theory is that the other 2 images used for backgrounds will build on this theme and color scheme

any way, will upload into this post when all is ready

all the icons are spaced correctly and i have actually slightly shifted things about to make them look more central, but they are still in line with where the touch screen needs them, what i have noticed is that the icons on the players are not centrally laid out to the screen, there is more space at the bottom of the screen and to the right which is a pain

dude, i know what you mean, i have seen and understand those other images and i will give them a similar style to the main back

You will need to remove the captions though they will automatically me added.

ah. now thats a pain in the rear, with not having the player i have no idea where the captions line up and i feel this may not work, does anyone have a PSD file with al the images and captions in full position so i can see where they land. The text is white right???

mmm . not sure my plan will succeed, i will have to find a screen shot of the the main menu and compare.
Its hard to do stuff like this without a knowledge of the player

just found a Chinese screen shot of the main menu and seems it may be ok to all line up ok, shame, i never twigged about the text, i should have known that

This is what I do, I use 48x48 icon which is top center with 56x56 box. ou can use this template.

Looks good, although the VX747 will display colors. LOL
Just messin with ya maderin1.
YBQ is correct on the words. Photshop cs has a magic wand feature that will probally be able to remove the exsiting words on your pic. The text on the 747 can be any color you choose.
It's an option in the main menu!! Hope this helped more.

thanks YBQ but i found also a png image in the theme buildeer, the one from the main interface, and have overlayed it so i now have a good template - but thanks for that

right you two, now raz has decided to use the VX747 as the start for the first themeing competition can you both do me a favor

as i have said, its hard to know what images are used and how they are used within the player themselves, so for others coming along to do the competition will be in the same boat i was.

so what we need is a breakdown of what all the images are and how the player uses them, templates like the ones YBQ uploaded etc are also useful, a PSD template or 2 with original images laid out and in place may be good???

so if you guys can help in any way i think it would make it alot easier for people without the player to mod the firmware

what do you think???
