The MIDnite's screen resoltion is 800 x 480, so you'll likely want to find a wallpaper at that size?

You know what i figured out? I'm so used to using my Android phone in the Portrait mode, I just assumed that using my tablet in the landscape mode would automatically readjust my wallpaper to make it fit. My regular 980x800 wall paper works if I'm viewing my home page in the Portrait mode. The stock Launcher only shows it in the Landscape mode on the MIDnite. I took some advice from Viper last night and downloaded a lot of apps to replace my stock apps including Launcher Pro. With LauncherPro, I can view my home page in Portrait mode just like a cellphone w/ the g-sensor.

So my wallpaper is fine.

Troy i made a mistake, you have the A81H+ with the 1ghz processor and 512mb :) You can upgrade to 2.3 if you want.

Just a bit of warning, the kickstand is nice, but it also puts pressure on the circuit board when you have it extended, if you pull it out with force it will push on the circuit board and can damage it. We've had a few extreme cases where people seemed to have been rough with the kickstand thereby damaging the circuit board.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm very happy w/ my MIDnite so far. I'm working around it's quirks, but it works good for all the activities I wanted it for (ebook reading, light gaming and light web browsing). Today was the first day I could really use it on my morning commute and I read a couple of chapters of The Red Pyramid on nook and played some Fruit Ninja. I'm glad this is the A81H+ (1ghz & 512mb) model :o . I'll hold off on going to 2.3 for awhile since I'm still testing out all of my downloaded apps.

I'll make sure to be very careful about using the kickstand. Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate all of your help and responses to my questions.

Well I've already had my first emergency where I've gotta switch batteries. I took my MIDnite and charger to work today. I used it all day reading and gaming. But I left my charger at work and my battery was almost dead. But I was trying to get my Plants vs Zombies app download on my tab. So I turned off my MIDnite and put in my second battery. The removable battery feature on this tablet is very useful especially since you can't charge the MIDnite thru USB.

I spent the last hour and a half trying to download Plants vs Zombies but can't get it to finish downloading. Not sure what the problem is because my WiFi is working fine & I've been browsing w/o a problem. One thing I noticed is this is a big file. The download was taking longer than any of my other Android apps.

I'll try again tomorrow.

You can always try to get the APK of PvZ from your phone and copy it to your MIDnite.

I agree with you on removable batteries, having the ability to have spare batteries and swap them out of a device is something that should be a norm rather than a special feature.

Question.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use a USB Ethernet adaptor on the MIDnite C? I'm not sure if you can use a plug and play adapter on these chinese tablets. My wireless went crazy again last night and I spent an hour rebooting my tab, router and modem with no success.

I'm glad I took the time to download all of my regular Android apps on my tab when I first got it. I was still able to read and play games on my commute, but I've just got to figure out how to get an internet connection again.

Were you by anyc hance using the MIDnite, ran out of battery and then when you powered back on the wifi was not working? If so you need to check the date on your MIDnite, it may have reset to a much earlier date, which can cause issues with connecting to networks.

I have been using my tabs batteries all the way til it dies, then plugging it in to recharge. Since these are new I wanted to drain them then power them back up again. I did notice the time on my MIDnite was wrong after powering it back up yeserday, but didn't notice the date. Also I was in the middle of updating RoboDefense when my WiFi went crazy on me, so every time I power up my MIDnite, the Market app automatically tried to complete the download.

When I got back home yesterday, I rebooted my router and modem. Then I went into my MIDnite and went into Settings to turn off the WiFi. I also noticed that my Ethernet as on, so I turned that off also. I rebooted my MIDnite, turned WiFi back on and I was able to get my wireless connection again. I periodically checked my Settings and my Ethernet was turned back on for some reason, so I turned that off again. I was able to get a WiFi connection again! :-) The MIDnite stayed connected for about an hour, then the wireless started disconnecting again. I was tired, so I just turned it off and went to bed. But I'm glad that I was able to get WiFi working again.

While the WiFi connection was up, I was able to update all of my Android apps. I copied over my RoboDefense save file from my phone to my MIDnite so now it as all of my upgrades. I find it very enjoyable to play it. I'm up to level 227 on RoboDefense now.

I also went into Amazon Appstore and downloaded that Plants vs Zombies game. It took about 15 minutes to download the game. It's huge, so I moved it to my SD card to give my MIDnites internal memory some room. Right now my available MID storage is listed as 221MB under Settings. PvsZ an OK game, so I'll keep it for awhile. But if I need room, I'm uninstalling this because it's my biggest app on my MIDnite.

I also tried a game called Caligo Chaser Free by Com2uS from Market. I was able to get the game to download, but everytime I tried to play it, the game wouldn't start. It would just go back to the home screen. I think something about Caligo Chaser Free disagrees with the MIDnite, so I uninstalled. I was able to get this game running on my Samsung Vibrant though. Here's a review of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAVNHpuGWXE

Well yesterday when I was taking the train back from work I tried to use my MIDnite. I turned it on but just got the ""Big White Black Flashes On The Screen!"" problem. It wouldn't boot all the way up, just flash at me. It was strange, but the last thing I had done that morning was play a game of RoboDefense with out any problem. So I held the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it off and then turned it back on. Same thing happened.

The second time I turned my MIDnite on, it booted into Android, but most of my apps didn't work. For example, I had made Launcher Pro my default launcher, but I would just get a pop up error message saying, "Sorry! The application LauncherPro (process android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I went in using the stock launcher. On the home screen, I noticed that most of my widgets displayed a generic Android icon instead of its normal one. I clicked on Aldiko Premium, Moon+ Reader, nook, Robo Defense and MoboPlayer widgets I had placed on my home screen. Each time I got an error message sayiing, "Application is not installed on your phone".

That's weird, because the last application I had used was Robo Defense. I didn't download any new apps to my tablet yesterday, but I did make LauncherPro my default launcher and I organized my three home screens with widgets for all of my games, media and ereader apps. I was able to open AndExplorer and see that my microSD card is being read my my tablet. But for some reason my tablet isn't picking up most of my apps anymore.

I clicked on Astro and the next screen was my License Agreement where I had to Accept or Refuse as if this was the first time I've used this tablet. Then I got an error message saying "Sorry! The application ASTRO (process com.metago.astro) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [Force Close]"

So that is what I'm getting with my apps now. Either they won't open at all, or just when it opens it Force Closes. It turned it off and checked my microSD card to see if it was loose somehow. I took it out and put it back in and heard that click sound, so I think my card is OK. I also took out the battery for a few seconds and placed it back in.

When I powered up, I go the Flashing White and Black screen thing again. Held the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it off and then powered up again. This time it booted up into Android and I noticed that the time was changed to 7o'clock on December 31st. But I still have the problem where most of my apps don't work anymore.

I think I'm going to have to reflash my MIDnite. I wanted to check to see if is the current firmware to use for the capacitive screen model. I see the post on this thread was from March 4th.

http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=21541&start=30

The link is described as Firmware 0221 - Capacitive.

I've checked the instructions to reflash the MIDnite from the troubleshooting guide. There is a 4gb card I can use and I've already downloaded the HP Format tool and Firmware 0221 rar files. I see the guide was from last year, but are these steps still valid or has there been any changes with the new Wits model?

12 APPENDIX A – REFLASHING YOUR MIDNITE
To reflash your MIDnite, please follow the below procedure - you will need access to a Windows based machine
and a MicroSD card.

Please do note that all data on the microsd card will be removed as it will be formatted!

Please follow the below steps to flash your MIDnite:

1. Download the HP Format tool here:
http://www.mp4nation.net/downloads/firm ... atTool.rar

2. Format your MicroSD card to FAT32

3. Download and extract the ROM you intend to use. You will always be able to find the most recent firmware in
our MIDnite subforum located here: http://mp4nation.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=79

There should be a file with the name MLO, copy the MLO file first onto the MicroSD card.

>>You must have formatted your microsd card with the above tool before copying the MLO file.
>>You must copy the MLO file by itself onto your microsd card, it must be the first file to be copied after
formatting.

4. Copy the rest of the firmware files over to the MicroSD card

5. Turn your MIDnite off, insert the MicroSD card and THEN connect the MIDnite to the wall charger

6. Hold the power button and the volume down button (the button closest to the power button). Hold both at the
same time. Hold both buttons till you see a message on the screen indicating that the ROM is being copied to the
MIDnite. You can then let go of the buttons.

7. The flashing of the ROM will take 5 - 10minutes, it will boot up once it has flashed.

You will lose all data and apps when flashing your MIDnite!

OK, I decided to try the Android 2.3 firmware. I went out and bought a new 4GB class 4 card to use for the ROM, so I can keep all of my info on the card I was using in my tablet.

I just followed the instructions to flash your MIDnite in my last post to try Firmware 0510 (A81H+ ONLY). After the tablet finished flashing the ROM it didn't boot up, just turned itself off. I waited 15minutes to make sure it was done and then turned it on. The ROM seems to have loaded. I've got a barebones list of apps now. Under Settings, the info displayed is:

Android version: 2.3.3
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 android@android#123
Build number: A18E-eng 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD eng.android20110505.114735 test-keys

I see my available space on my internal storage is 352MB. I'm going to go easy on loading a lot of apps this time. This new ROM only has a few apps. I don't even see a task killer listed. This is what's listed so far:
BluetoothSCOApp
Browser
Calculator
Calendar
Clock
Contacts
Dev Tools
Downloads
Email
Gallery
Gmail
Maps
Market
Music
Navigation
Search
Settings
Sound Recorder
Spare Parts
Talk
Voice Dialer
Wits BatchInstaller
