Hi, Chris.

I'm seeing this a tad late but I thought I'd chime in. There are many choices for pads so
you have your pick. The Rocktab is very well made and with browsers like Skyfire you
can see some sites with Flash. Without knowing your budget I will speak to the $175.00 to
$200.00 price range. Will you be happy with this MID? Music sounds great, web browsing is
fine although, I've had problems with some open connections like at McDonalds, and the library.

If your needs are very basic this is fine. Games, multitasking, speed , etc. This would not
be a good thing to buy. Keep in mind this is Android 1.5 with 128 ram. What you have
here that makes this unique is that Android's has been fitted for this pad. Understand that
Android was designed for phones. Part of why on early devices you would even see a phone
icon.

IMHO.... This would have been excellent a year ago. The average user will quickly become
bored with this and having to always use a taskmanager to kill apps is a bit of a pain.
Its a bit of a trade off. Some of the newer Android MIDs have software bugs but the they
still work fine and are faster then the Rocktab, have more memory and most of all are Android 2.1.
I don't play games and I mostly use these devices for light web browsing and showing images.
Make your choices based on your needs and budget. You won't go wrong buying a Rocktab though.

to be honest the app killing happens on basically all of the MIDs out now even the high end ones like the viewsonic gpad and others sadly its just something you *have* to do. And if i got a rocktab or was given one id cherish it it looks amazing and for the price? great :D id deffinatly not get bored of it.

I haven't had to use a app killer on the Samsung Galaxy or my G10 or G11. As for cherish well its a
device. I cherished my wife (ex) A joke, a joke. There is nothing wrong with the Rocktab. Its stable
and while its hardware specs are lower end. Devices like the Wits A81 e which costs more and has more
ram has caused some buyers all kinds of headaches.

The Viewsonic seen here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20025318-1.html
while having decent hardware specs like the Wits, and others fall down because of the
way Android is fitted. Key is that it can be updated and its 2.1. Look the Rocktab is a decent
value at $129.00. At; $169.00, no. Further when compared to MID's with a RK2818 and 256 ram.
Its slower even if more stable. Android 2.1 and faster more capable processors. I liked Windows 95
which is comparable to Android 1.5 in some ways. Its still fine but I wouldn't suggest it as a current OS.

My comments ended with you won't go wrong with a Rocktab. Those with basic needs will dig
the Tab and its been advertised as a starter budget pad. Again at its pre-sale price a decent value
but compared at its current $169.99 against pads like the Archos 7 at $199.00 and other sellers
with devices with more ram and better processors its not so much.

agreed with the previous comment about this unit cannot use some open wireless hotspot.
Especially the ones that required you to visit a website to agree to the term of use.

I will suggest you look at Archos 70 or 10.
They are about $270 but has capacitive screen, bluetooth (support gps bt), etc.
and running android 2.2

the archos 7 ?? - be careful not to get confused here as the archos 7 is actually a rockchip with same innards as the rocktab but the tab, i can bet, is a better implementation and better screen for touch,

if you mean the archos 70, then thats the one with the more power and updated OS but the price double what the tab is going for

Archos are updating the Home 7 with a rk2818 version -
