Does the midnight work with google maps ?

I have read the thread on how to enable full market place, does this mean, with the optional GPS, this can use, google maps/ navigator ?

Yes, Google map works on any version.

Cool thanks, I was wondering why people were resorting to copilot or igo, ?

But just to be clear, go with the GPS module using google maps, I can get turn by turn direction, voice promts just like on my Droid phones ?

Mine does not come with GPS option. Not sure how and why people need other app to operates. perhaps it has more option to choose? In theory, it should works with google map.

Google Maps must have an internet connection to plot the route before using the GPS.

That is why people use IGO8 or CoPilot both of which are stand alone.
