My battery started out okay, then it would just faintly flash the red and green lights when plugged in and now it just sits there like a brick.

I opened a trouble ticket and explained this issue to them, but now they do not respond at all.

Has the company gone under or what?

@hcobb, have you tried the following?

1. Keep the power button depressed for more than 7 seconds to see if it turns on.
2. Remove the battery, don't connect the device to the outlet and depress the power button momentarily to discharge any static charge on the board. Re-seat the battery and try step 1. Make sure the battery is firm in its place, the battery compartment isn't snug. Stuff it with bits of paper if needed.
3. Let the battery charge for more than 4 hrs and see if results in a change.

I can see why you are frustrated, its not because the device isn't working. Its because its pretty unpredictable at times. I am hoping we aren't committing terrible mistakes here. I can't think of doing anything more than "plug in, let it charge, power on". As easy as it gets. Good luck!

Yes, did all of that.

It now just sits there and shows no response at any time.

Could it be a bad charger? It worked for a while now does nothing.

Gosh, bad charger is a possibility. If you got a car charger, try that once before calling it quits. Too bad you are in this situation, i really hope mp4nation does something about this. I had a similar issue that came and went (see my earlier post in this thread). I really thought that my device got bricked and created a ticket only to withdraw it later. Hope thye help you to sort this out. :(

Do give us a little bit of time to reply to your ticket, we are also not open on weekends.

@hcobb does your charger get warm when connected to the wall socket and attached to the MIDnite, if it is working properly it should be warm.

Yup - I got a dead charger. Opened a support ticket tonight but WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I'm over 70 years old and time is NOT my friend :)

I tried everything - somehow, I had missed the posts about the red/green lights...... Mine worked for a little while - I backed up the apps onto an SD card - and then it died. I tried both batteries and neither would get the unit past the ANDROID screen. Then, I scoured the SlateDroid and Mp4nation forums and found the info on the lights. So......off I went to my car with the car charger and voila! Beautiful red and green lights! Now the problem is that my car is older and doesn't have a "hot" 12v plug - I have to leave the accessories on and that will shortly make my car un-startable as well!

I'm hoping that I can get a replacement wall charger post haste - I don't want to wait another 2 weeks to have a chance to use my MIDnite.......

Will things work when I get it charged....or will I have lost all my apps like people are talking about :? :

Thanks,
Probably the oldest woman on the forum!

Update: I received an email from Mp4 that "dud chargers" were very rare, so this is probably not something that should concern you re: ordering the MIDnite. They are sending a replacement charger and I'll be "on air" again. Until the battery was drained, the unit seemed to work without a hiccup except for setting up pop3 email. If that's the major problem......I can use internet email instead! The charger being bad is just 'one of those things'.....the support from Mp4 however, is much appreciated. M

I just got my midnite and it seems to be working ok except for the lights not working as advertised.

Running on battery alone - no lights on.

Running on charger alone - no lights on.

Running on charger and battery - red light on.

Is this correct, and the green light should only come on when fully charged?

No - the green light should come on when plugged into the charger.

However, you say your unit is running fine?

It may be that the green LED was itself loose or not working.
