Wifi ad hoc working with HTC Tattoo!

SDK, Root, and ad-hoc, link directions.

These links may not be for the A81-E specifically; but it works.
Some of the directions may need "your system's(Home computer) specific tweaking".

First Setup SDK and ADB Access for your tablet:

Then, Root your tablet this way:

Setting up ad-hoc

Link Correction:

Setting up ad-hoc

I tethered my MIDnite successfully with MyWi 4.0 on my iPhone 3gs (4.0.1) using the links above. One caveat, I had to change the channel in MyWi to 11 to get it working. Thanks korke for summarizing and thanks to the slatedroid community!

yea, hope more people benefit from the info here in this forum. Btw, I am able to connect using PDAnet too (its an alternative for MyWi on iPhone)! Will post how well Google maps/Nav does with the tether connection after i hit the road next time (tomorrow). The Gscript script solution to swap out wpa_supplicant.conf works like a charm as well. Highly recommend this to everybody..Good luck!!

So how did it go, will be using my MIDnite like that too when it comes in, with my tethered iPad.

I never got my Motorola Milestone to work with AdHoc, maybe the script would have helped but I think Motorola may have done some "securing"...anyway, moved on to better things with the MIDnite !

Forgot to post earlier. In short, it didn't go well. Google maps/Nav isn't able to lock on to the current position. My gps is still married to the equator.

Update, got into my car and tried testing google nav [brut] again..It took nearly 5 to 7 mins to start. This time it zeroed in on the location and it was downloading map tiles using my tethered data connection. It kept downloading for more than 15 mins and didn't really navigate. But, I was able to see the blue arrow move around on a low resolution map image in the background as i drove around. It seems like google nav expects 3g data connectivity. I am not sure if its configured to use data over wifi. If somebody knows a way to preload map tiles and use google nav, please post. I am cross posting this under the gps thread as well since it really doesn't belong here.

Its a thread on copilot app, not a GPS specific thread, now that i look back at it. Oh well, forums are haystacks.
