I'm not sure why I should do this apart from some apps I've seen which require root. Ironically one is Titanium Backup. The hazard root link suggest backing up before doing the root thing???
The other was a screen shot app which I wanted to use so I could show of my awesome looking home screen. Unfortunately I had to re-create it tonight because we got caught out by the flat battery shut down.
For the record I had to reinstall Launcher Pro, Dolphin Browser HD, Facebook, Smartbar & RotateD but I didn't need to re-flash. Also someone suggested a fix for Launcher Pro, that didn't work for me.
I was hoping there may be some way to backup my home screen and all setting etc. incase the battery thing happens again.
I've also had no joy moving apps to SD.
