You should have had the livesuit opened up, with the .IMG file already loaded. After you installed the driver, hit update on the livesuit tool. Go ahead and open the livesuit tool up, load the .img file, and hit update. Doesn't hurt to try.

Problem is the LiveSuit never actually starts whether from v8000hds20100730 or v8000hds20100205

I know this may be a dumb answer but how about this.

Hold down the power button for about 10-15 seconds til you hear like a sort of clicking sound. wait a minute. Then hold power button for about 5 seconds.

I now know that many a times I thought i bricked it, was just it "freezing".

I for some reason cannot get the LiveSuit to even start as all the happens is a momentary busy cursor and then nothing. Not even showing up in task manager.

Out of desperation I managed to get a new install of WinXP Pro and SP3 (had to even go dig up some driver for my Asus P4P800 deluxe as it would not connect) but for some reason the two different firmwares folders also does not list the LiveSuite as LiveSuite.exe like in the guide but as Livesuite.

It does not matter whether I look in folders that I extracted while on Linux and then transferred over to Windows or if I extracted the files with WinRar on WinXP.

Usually, if the Livesuit program wont open, it's because there are folders with Chinese characters. Rename any folders containing Chinese characters to something in English.

Oh for crying out loud.

It was that simple... where is the frustrated smile when you need it... as I am Finally getting somewhere.

Be right back just got to look at guide, get WinXP to detect player and get going on this. Going to try the v8000hds20100730 firmware.

Oh for I missed the "(Make sure to rename any folders containing Chinese characters. This has been a common problem)" part the whole time.

"no device that need to update!"

mutters...

man this program has some bad engrish for instructions.

I got the v8000hds.img in the Image box but the Process says at 0% and says "Jump to update mode failed" below it.

Yes the player was detected as new hardware before starting LiveSuite.

On the upside the v8000hds20100730 does have English on buttons and English on popups however the instructions are still more Engrish then English. Need to update your guide images.

Yes, I'm aware that some of the images are different now, but I don't have these players. I translate documents from Chinese to English, and if the images aren't included, I don't have them. Hard to keep up with all this, please try to understand...

"no device that need to update!"

No matter which firmware I try as in V8000hds20100205 or V8000HDS20100430 or V8000hds20100730 I always get the "no device that need to update!" popup (no matter how many times I tried after restarting Livesuite) when clicking on that gears update button after loading img.

Tried on WinXP Pro and Vista home, same results on both. The player was detected before hand as new hardware window came up.

Finally... Whoo whoooooooooooooooooooo *does a dance and see everybody is looking* um yeah.

Anyways I found some instructions elsewhere and the big key thing I was doing wrong was clicking the damn OK in the "no device that need to update!" popup that came up. Doh!

I loaded LiveSuit made sure the img in FW folder was selected then click on the Gears update icon. It then gives the "no device that need to update!" popup so I ignored it and then got the WinXP to detect the player. It then asked if I wanted to format. I choose No for normal format. It then went through the process of installing. I then saw the "setting up system, please wait" and I was happy by that point.

It does start up as the battery was at 13% I believe, it wants to shutdown so I am in process of charging it. I then have to go about changing it from Chinese to English.

Not sure if I still have to get hardware detection again on WinXP so as to install the UsbDriver as the player is detected fine by both WinXP and openSUSE 11.3 ...just that everything was wiped which I do not mind as nothing that was on there was actually lost.

edit:
Ok after some charging I then changed it to English and tried a video and everything works fine. The newer UI on some things is going to take a moment to get used to as I got rather used to the more simpler menu system since March.

Good to see you got it going again. I thought in my instructions on the recovery part, it says, Do not click ok". Maybe I'm wrong.
