can this also be used on the first batch players and if so is it an improved version in anyway to the one that came with the batch ones

Thanks for posting the fw. This firmware is supposed to be compatible with the MIDnites with the other screen.

If people want to mod for all the MIDnites out there they should use the above linked file.

hi... sorry to be a dampener but...

this ROM is identical to the temporary fix we posted in the other thread. all it does is used the 31 Aug ROM for the batch #1 albeit with a different set of uImage file... (this has been hanging around in other forums for 2 weeks at least)

it does not fix the battery indicator problem in the batch #2 MIDnites...

is there really a ROM out there for truly fixing the #2. i'm losing hope.....

This ROM was only intended to fix the half white-screen issue, I believe.
