They don't have to be anything spectacular. Just show your gear is all. Spectacular is optional, lol.

well i talked to my dad who is also an electrical engineer. he gave me the idea to simply shield it myself. he told me to take the guts and put it into a shielded enclosure. instead i simply took some adhesive backed aluminum tape and lined the whole inside of the PA2V2. i lined the whole inside other than the front faceplate where the knob and jacks are. it is now dead silent over wifi and is much quieter over 3G. my main goal was to make it usable over wifi because whenever i am home i have my phone connected to my home network. i don't plan to walk around using the PA2V2, it's going to be my home amp. i wonder if i cover the inside of the front faceplate if that will improve it even further over 3g.

anyway, i'm glad that it is now usable with my phone over wifi. rockin out to some live Joe Satriani on my HTC Incredible---->PA2V2---->Brainwavz M2's right now.

the M2's don't NEED amping, but it definitely takes them to a whole different level. more dynamic and open sounding with better sound staging. next step is to find a pair of cans i like, so i can make the M2's my on the go phones and have a nice big set of cans for home use. my dad just got a pair of HD280 Pro's which i think sound pretty good, better than my HD205's.

Nice Jason. I once asked Gary via email if metal enclosures were better than plastic, because of outside interference, and he told me metal was def better at it.

EDIT: Found the email, this is what he actually said. "Amps built into a metal enclosure will be able to block electromagetic interference from passing through, while non conductive enclosures (such as the ABS used in the PA2V2's case) will not. There have been some amp owners who mentioned hearing little cell phone noises but this would be about 5 people out of the 7200+ owners. There could have been more people who experienced this and did not tell me about it. I think it's the very old cell phones that can cause this."

my dad told me that its pretty silly to put an amp in a plastic enclosure for this very reason. not sure why gary chose plastic. i'm going to guess it's to keep the price down.

my next step is to see about lining the front faceplate the same way. just not sure how to go about taking it all apart to do so.

i'm definitely enjoying the amp now though.

Read my edit please. Not sure why he used plastic either, unless just to keep cost down.

thanks, i went back and read it. my guess is that most people don't use cell phones as music sources. on the other hand, i'd say the Iphone would be a pretty popular source. either way, the aluminum tape seems to be doing the trick. i'm going to take a closer look and see if i can easily line the front faceplate as well. maybe i'll shoot gary an email about it and see what he recommends to do on the faceplate. right now the only piece not covered is the faceplate, and i'd imagine covering the rest will help with noise even further.

sorry for continuing to be off topic, but i had sent Gary an email earlier today describing my issue with my amp/phone combination. he responded an hour or so ago telling me that a good option would be to do exactly what i just did. he said cover the inside of the top and bottom in aluminum tape.

i told him that i had already done this and that it helped quite a bit, and i thanked him of course. i asked him if i should do anything with the front faceplate. gary has been great to deal with.

I do like when people at least post a few impressions. Always nice to read others opinions about them.

If I had only finally received my M2s, I'd gladly write something about them. I got the email about them being sent three weeks ago, but it took until monday that they finally left Hong Kong.
