The Rocktab can use some ebook readers like Aldiko, the main thing is that it can't use big-name readers like Kindle because it has Android 1.5.

The MIDnite isn't playing videos well at all right now, but it should be as good or better than the Rocktab once it gets the firmware upgrades needed to make videos work.

nice looking video review raz. The rocktab actually looks really nice and smooth. Great looking interface that seems to function well. This a huge improvement on the apad and for someone that is looking for a device for basic websurfing, video playback and youtube, this might actually be a better choice than the MIDnite. I actually think the UI looks and functions better than the MIDnite's (at least out of the box)... something I never thought I would say about a rockchip based player. Nice job and bringing this to MP4nation.

There is an active community over on SlateDroid that is attempting to get 1.6 running on the RK2808 aPad. It looks promising, but its not a certainty.

Just ordered after seeing the video review.
Was looking specifically for the rotations (accelerometer) and the response is VERY good.

wil give it to my wife for her manga reading which is perfect.

I know I was settled a bit back about the android version, but then again a good 2.2 Android on better hardware specs will cost you twice as much .

Nice video :) Will say that it looks alot better than the APAD on all fronts, and that accelerometer works great! I would have loved to see more trackball use,but I got the gist of how it works,I see alot less fingerprints in my future ;) This proves my point that an optimized 1.5 can and will run smoother than 2.1 or so just plopped onto a tablet(telechips anyone??).Everything just seems to "work" here, without much lag or trouble. The word I'm looking for is SMOOTH :) I like it alot! Thanks for not totally abandoning the bottom end after the APAD disaster, and going through the trouble of finding and bringing us a GOOD QUALITY tablet!

I can say that this will be promoted pretty heavley over at Slatedroid.com,hopefully that will get the creative juices flowing on this one,and some custom firmwares come out of it :) 1.6 is not out of the question, just needs to be pushed in that direction :)

I watched the video and I am liking it. I wouldn't mind the video playback being a little smoother, but it looks decent and I can always watch movies in a lower resolution. Not like I am going to use it to play videos on a 60" LCD HDTV or anything.
I hope to get it to work as a GPS unit as well.
But, I guess 1st things first and get it in my hands then see about the fun. :)
