Hi, I have an Optimus touch (1st gen) mp4 player which, after loading it w/ files & turning on the unit, hanged on the 'welcome' screen and failed to start up. The reset hole had to be pressed to turn off the unit. I downloaded the Optimus touch firmware from this website, followed the instructions, but upon reaching 1%, it stopped & the box turned from blue to red and the device connection to the PC was disconnected automatically. What might be the problem? Hope there is a way to restore back the firmware of my mp4 player. :)

Hi
where did you get this from, the optimus from here is obsolete, mp4nation have not sold any for an age and a day and yes, your player may look like it but it will be different

is this from ebay

The unit was given as a gift. I saw the MP4nation Optimus touch youtube video and the user interface/appearance are the same.
the firmware listed is: Magic V2 V3.0.2.3

well it may not be the same at all, hardware changes all the time from many different factories meaning it more then likely will be different - many chinese players are made from same remould and designs by different factories - all we know is in the fourms, not a great deal as its a long time ago now

where did the player come from originally

I'm afraid not, with these generic devices u r in the hands of the gods, if it fails for some reason then there is litle to no chance for recovery let alone finding firmware

What is the memory size of this player

not unless you have the original firmware for your player and it has to be right im afraid, if the optimus did not work then its incompatible with your unit - there really is not much to go on at all as this is a very old player in terms og its hardware and it will be all but impossible to find a firmware as there is no official release, www.mympx.org deals with unbranded players like this and have a few firmwares that you can maybe try

The optimus touch firmware files i previously referred to that I downloaded from this website was under the topic 'Optimus Touch Firmware Upgrade'. Since my player was already loaded with the same firmware version but maybe was corrupted, is it correct that tried it or should i look for the firmware RECOVERY tool instead of UPGRADE, if there's any :? :
