Open letter to mp4nation and witstech:
Your MIDnite and A81E tablets use the OMAP3 SOC.
The beagleboard uses the OMAP3. The beagleboard has been in production for years and continues to sell. Why? Because the hardware and software are open and user friendly. There are many projects built around it.
The openpandora uses the OMAP3. The openpandora has 4,000 prepaid customers. Some prepaid over 2 years ago. So far they have produced 1,000 units or so. They have a 2nd pre-pay batch coming soon. Why? Even with no product the software was open and this allowed people to develop for it. People will wait for an open product.
MIDNITE and A81E. A flash in the pan. Why? It could be so much more but you are keeping GPLed software close to you acting like it's your intellectual property. These tablets are capable of attracting a large user and developer base who will improve your software and perhaps your hardware too. I suspect that the first Chinese manufacture that opens their code will quickly rise to the number one producer, the preferred source for early adapters and developers with new ideas. If you want to fade into oblivion continue in holding on tightly to what isn't yours.
