Nice spec, not a great looker, that hefty bezel is an I sore. No Android Market I presume. Although there is a 3G option so may be market after all. A little scroogy on the Storage..only 4GB. Capacitive mutititouch though apparently....

No word on flash or google apps, I presume it's there though. Could be a winner, engadget didn't seem to impressed on an early hands on though.

Nice price. $370 which probably means around $100000000 anywhere in Europe, they might as well rename the whole continent to 'Euripusooffforeverything'

The device should have flash or you could download flash. The nvidia tegra 2 based chips are arm11... And arm11 is found in Omap chips used in most higher end android cell phones and higher end tablets.

The Texas Instruments OMAP2420 chips that were used in older smart phones like the Nokia N95 are ARM 11 based .

Most high end smartphones and tablets nowadays use the newer Cortex A8 & and soon Cortex A9 Chips, the performance difference between ARM11 and Cortex is significant.

All The newer TI Omap chips like the ones found in the Midnite, Nokia N900, Motorla Droid/Droid X, Pam Pre and the new archos pmp line are all Cortex A8 based. As are all Qualcomm Snapdragon cpus' as seen in all high end HTC phones (Desire/Evo/HD2), The SE Xperia X10 & The Dell Streak etc. The Apple A4 chips used in the iPhone and iPad and the Samsung's Hummingbird found in the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab are also Cortex A8 based and similar in architecture although the Hummingbird has a more powerful GPU.

The Tegra2 chipsets are even more powerful and based on a the next generation Cortex A9 MPCore.

It's an important distinction to make though because the Cortex family of CPU's outperforms the older ARM 11 chipsets and when coupled with a decent amount of RAM (ideally 512mb) and a fast optimized OS like android 2.2, the speed and performance advantages over ARM11 are pretty big.

The main issue with all the Rockchip and Telechips cpu's seen in the China Android Tabs and pmp's is that they are built on the older ARM11 and ARM9 architectures. The only difference being they have improved hardware accelerated graphics processing mainly to enable 720p/1080p video decoding. However most have 256MB of ram or lower and even if they were coupled with 512mb of ram they still wouldn't show the type of performance the Cortex A8 based chips are capable of and nowhere near the Tegra2 CortexA9mpcore chips.

The CPU in this device is confusing tbh. I wasn't aware of any Snapdragon variants that run at 600MHz, despite them claiming it runs a snapdragon. The performance looks fairly smooth though, so could be a cortex chip powering it. It is also unclear as to why it has no flash as the presenter mentions, it also has no HDMI out which could be an indication it is being run by a slower cpu.

Its definitely got a nice price, but its a tad bit ugly ;)

I think the price of tegra 2 devices will come down in part to competition and in part due to economies of scale, the more tablets using the chip, the gradual lowering of the cost price of the tegra 2, which i believe cost at USD$80-USD$100 and thats volume pricing.

haha yeah it is pretty ugly, tegra2 at this price is great though.

Ignore the last bit I wrote about the 600mhz snapdragon. I forgot we were talking about the Elocity and not the Viewsonic viewpad 7. Thet is the one with the supposed 600mhz snapdragon.
