Before you complain about the "Apad" - please read the post and look at the links :wink:

______________________________________________________________________________

I allready showed the Apad 701 at SlateDroid - but currently they are unsure what to think about it. On the one hand it seems weird that another manufacteur (Aappaa) took the name of an allready existing product and just increase the number. On the other hand it got some really promising specs which makes it outstanding from other chinese clones :o

Short fact sheet:

=> 7-inch TFT (resolution 800x480) with a multitouch capacitiv Display
=> 800 MHz Telechips 8902 ARM 11 which is capable of 1080p
=> 256MB of RAM (DDR2)
=> WiFi b/g
=> 1.3 MP cam
=> 2 mini USB Ports
=> 2GB/4GB storage on board
=> micro SD support
=> integrated GPS
=> Android 2.1 or update to 2.2
=> 3200mAH battery
=> 350g

A video report about the tablet can you allready find at ARMdevice. Here are the facts from the "IFA-version" from charbax:

But this seems to be an outdated version - since today MadeInChina refers to Shanzhaiben, that the new one got the enhanced specs mentioned above (~ larger battery/faster processor/included GPS/higher Price). Unfortunately the dont mention such thing like a G-sensor, but it should standard nowadays :|

@Admins: I don't know if you are still looking for a tablet taking it into the shop after the MIDNite, but perhaps you could consider this. For a price around 150$ with the mentioned specs (~ especially the capacitiv Display) it will probably be selling very well :)

Its not the spec list its the build, the fact its essentially unbranded fodder, lgnore the name this distributor has given it, u could go to the factory and buy some And call it what the hell u want, there will be a load of these out soon in various guises, don't be dragged into the spec sheet

Whats wrong with the spec sheet ? You just explained why they can call their devices all alike and also look similar - but why should the specs be false ? Perhaps some clones contain older stuff inside, but it was the same with the Rockchip Apad and the VIA Apad. We just have to find the manufacteur/distributor who sell the one with the capacitiv Screen & Telechip for the right price. It's the same like MIDNite and the Wits A81 :)

At Shanzhaiben they showed up a comparision to a former clone. You allready see some difference at button/camera/screen :o

It's not that the specs are fake it's just how the build quality is on these players.

its not about the specs being fake or wrong its about how these cheap, unbranded pads are put together, just be wary, if its cheap then it will be "cheap" - you can only go so low in price before quality starts to suffer, case in point - that apad - to keep costs down for these cheap pads things like QC controls and testing etc etc etc will be cut

wits were proven to get their devices made in a responsible factory with quality control and good manufacturing, the "manufactory" :) you linked is again just another front fro a supplier that does not make stuff, they buy it direct from factories and will add whatever you want to it

Yes these look high spec on paper and we will see them hit the ebays and get named all sorts soon but we as buyers and shops like raz have to be careful as its so easy to throw these out of the factory with little care and abandon and suffer later when the cheap price comes back to haunt us and sellers like raz

if this is the official spec sheet

then this should ring alarm bells for s start as its presented in a manner that does not inspire confidence at all

not having a go at you here but i have followed chinese media player industry for many many years now and the android pads are following the same destructive patterns as the mp4 player industry did

Okay, sorry - didn't know how important the "factoy" which ensambles the units is. Thought it's like here in Germany or the US where they have some quality standards. Concerning these warnings, we will definitly have o wait & and see how solid they are :wink:

(@maderin1: Thanks for the lecture, allways good to learn something knew about the asia productions :D )

many factories do have very good standards in china, like wits and many of the other big names in chinese MP4 industry, but there are many many more that make cheap-to-market players for one reason only .. they literally do not care about the product

sorry if i sounded like a bossy arse, its just you got to be careful with stuff with no name and badly printed A4 spec sheets :) - thankyou anyway for the information, its all good - just keep looking for us :)

F'NO! It has nothing to do with how fast the processor is, or if it has HDMI or how well android 2.1 works on it, all these generic devices are being built so poorly that there is no way i am willing to sell such a low quality device again. I am sure there are tons of other sites willing to take your cash, but i respectively will decline.

Does it really have a capacitive touchscreen?

That'd be like the first generic MID to.
