I have a question about video playback. I have a lot of movies that are in 640x480 avi (mp4 divx or xvid) container and I would like to know if I will have a problem playing those files? Thanks

No, the only "problems" on the video playback are with the HD Videos, with low resolution you don't have any problem.

Thanks for the info

Hi,
I have been researching for over 4 weeks for a 7" Android tablet for basically:
1. email - yahoo, gmail
2. browse - news, live tv news including Flash, sports - cricket and soccer
3. music - my own on SD card
4. Youtube
5. 3G or SIM card to connect to Internet anywhere like car, a park etc
My budget is $225/ landed in Los Angeles. Can anybody advise me of what to get - do I need to wait for And. 2.2 with Flash to be released? Thanks in anticipation.
Vijay

Well since your budget is $225 I recommend you the Nationite Midnite (Wits A81-E).
In the coming weeks the bugs it has will most likely be fixed.(Flash support, youtube app).
However it doesn't have an sim card slot.
It also has Froyo Android 2.2

Thank you cartelps11 for your prompt advice. But can I access Internet with A81-E, using a USB Modem where NO Wifi connectivity is available, even if it does NOT have a SIM card slot. Apart from the USB modem, will I require any other soft/hardware? Thank you again.

For any chinese machine it's alway recommended to be running the XP OS.

and I do not have one, so I'm not sure about the USB modem.
That would be a question for raz (Admin).

Thanks. I do not quite get what you mean by "For any chinese machine it's always recommended to be running the XP OS" ! Do you mean Windows XP?
How do I get in touch with Raz(Admin)? As you suggest I will wait for couple of months for the refined Wits A81E. But meanwhile I need immed. a workhorse just for Emai, Ebook, Browsing and most imortant to be able to connect with USB Modem. Can you please suggest a model? Thanks.

Yes I mean windows XP
to get in touch with raz you just make a thread and hopefully he'll read it.
And I have no info about usb modem. Sorry :(
But on your other stuff( email ebook browsing) the wits a81-e will be perfect for you or if raz ever stocks it the bmorn 899 would be good too.

Also what is the battery life like? Most of the movies are 90-100 minutes so should I only figure on one movie per charge? Is there a way to use this device with an ethernet cable instead of wifi? Thanks

Your video should play fine on the apad. I am unsure if the ethernet cable adapter would work properly on this, i know on the BM999 there is an option for ethernet settings, but not on the apad.

Battery life for video (without wifi) will probably last you enough for about 2 movies with a full charge, maybe less.

Is it possible to connect an external GPS receiver and use the aPad or SmartQ fro GPS navigation?
If yes, do you have a guide for it?

It works fine, i believe the first version of 5.1 or 5.0 had an issue, but was fixed.

I ordered on Monday and am really looking forward to getting this. I've already begun ordering accessories (case, stylus, etc.)...
