I've ordered one of these now from MP4 with Rockchip 2808 to be shipped to Toronto. I'm so glad to have found this little device and of course the forums are great as well. I have to warn you that I am addicted to forums so even though this is my first posting, it won't be my last. 8)

The reason I chose the Apad was because of the size of it. Years ago I bought a laptop so I could take it around with me on holidays. But it's so big and clunky that it's just too heavy to lug around and takes up too much weight with the new cheapskate airlines that only allow a limited amount of luggage.

So I bought an Ipod Touch 3G with 64GB memory. And it's too small. I really don't like the setup because everything has to be stored onto my laptop and then downloaded to the Ipod. And because everything comes through the Itunes it's much too invasive. It's also too small and almost impossible to type anything.

So I've been looking for a better gadget that's more usable and still portable. I looked at the 10.1" Ipad and it still seems too large to be really portable.

Then I found the 7" touch pads. It's just the perfect size for me. I searched the ebay obsessively for weeks and found the RockChip 2808 releases. I read and read and searched the google and finally came to MP4Nation review.

Of course once a person finds this website it would be foolish to buy anywhere else. Thanks very much for putting this website together.

well i hope it covers your needs, i would definitely recommend some form of hard(ish) case for carting it about to protect the screen, i have seen some dedicated leather book cases for this device but only on china sites but definitely something to keep it

I've had the same issue, i need a device that can check emails when i am on holiday or when i am on the bus going into Shenzhen, i found laptops to be too bulky so i had been using my Chuwi W3000, it had a small screen, but the screen was really good quality.

I then got the Nexus One smartphone, so i stopped using the W3000, but using it to check lot of emails and replying to them, the nexus one was just too small. I then turned back to using a netbook, although smaller than a laptop i still found it bulky for my trips to China, but its fine for when i go on holidays.

I've now been contemplating taking the apad with me to China, i would need to get a 3g dongle so that i could use it on the bus trip up to the border. It would be nicer to check my emails and surf the forums while i am idling on the bus journey on the apad rather than using my nexus one.

Oh, don't worry. I've already ordered a lot of accessories including 3 different cases, dual touch stylus, micro SDHC cards with adapter, screen protector, speaker, and I'm still searching for more. I'm having a lot of fun with this thing.

And the nice thing is I got a shipping notice in my e-mail this morning after only 2 working days since I ordered. That's fine service. As well the tracking number is already logged in to Hong Kong Post. I've ordered lots of stuff from Hong Kong and Thailand and it doesn't take very long for the shipping to Toronto, so I'm hoping for delivery this week as I chose EMS delivery.

Once I get the Apad, I'll do a review and really tell it like it is. If I say it's good, it's good.

it will be good as long as its understood that its a budget item, and as you have researched the hell out of this thing you know what you are doing and pretty much what to expect :) , from what i see, used right, its a cracking bargain that has got all the main bases covered for most peoples uses

anyway, seems you having yourself a little tech party :) - would love to hear your views when you get it

cheers

I do understand the limitations of the Apad, but I mainly want it for very portable internet viewing and searching the ebay auctions. I don't want to use my computer at work for internet but this should be just the right thing. I work in a hotel so I have free wifi at work.

And it should be nice to show off photos to friends. My camera (Nikon s8000) uses secure digital so here is the plan. Shove a micro SDHC card into an adapter, put it into the camera, take some photos and then insert the Micro card into the Apad, eliminating the computer and downloading. Hopefully this will work, but even if it doesn't I can be satisfied with the Apad.

The tracking number has now been entered into the Canada Post system so I can follow the package coming from the other side of the world.
