did you try the guide i linked with the G83 firmware??

not sure if u fancy doing a full hard reboot, the old swiping the memory chip trick to completely blow out the firmware - BUT its risky

its an old recovery technique
you have the player connected to the USB as normal, back off and memory chips exposed, then you short the main memory chip along one side with something like a pair of small tweezers, when you get the short right it will essentially wipe the memory clean and should pop up an add new hardware wizard, from then on its normal firmware install routine - but. again, risky and really only a last resort for a totally dead player

well,i tried the swipe the main memory chip trick while it was connected to my computer, and it blanked out,so i unhooked it from the usb cable and than rehooked back to the usb cable and it pretty much was the same, actually i did this a number of times and it would always go back to the original firmware,i also uninstalled it in device manager like you suggested, and when i hooked it up afterwards, the computer is still seeing it as a rockchip 28xx device,or more likely the g83 is telling the computer it is a rockchip 28xx device,i noticed to that the rockchip 28xx update tool see it as a 28xx device thats how i killed trying to load the g85 firmware, don't think the 27xx update tools recognized it,so my conclusion is this g83hd thinks it is a rockchip 28xx device, i will probably forget about updating the firmware, this is weird,of all the rockchip pmp's i have had, i never have seen this before, but than again they all work perfectly when i recieved them in the mail,i wonder how many of these came of the line with this problem?

so it keeps on reverting to the original firmware, now we have seen this on players using the new IMG files, like when modding, we cant replace files in hidden partition, just reverst, must have a backup stored somewhere

now, when you use the tool i linked what happens, when you press switch then update what is the readout in the program doing, - this is very odd, maybe a different tool is needed for the G83 then

i tried the rockchip 28xx v1.20 update tool with the g83hd firmware and it started the process of updating but stoped with the message you see below, and the player is blank,i will have to open up the player and unhook the battery wire again to bring it back
