I bought a Benss X636 7 inch player and really love it. But man am I confused by getting my video to work on the player. I already fill up the 8 gb internal memory and using several 16 gb micro SD cards to store more videos. The advertisement tells it can play so many different format including .avi or .flv. Doesn't tell me what type of .avi format so I assume there is only one type of .avi format, I guess not. I just don't understand I can play all my .avi or .flv video on my computer and some will work on the player and other not! So I am going to a trial period, if it works, great, if it doesn't, oh,well, try to convert the .avi format into a .avi format again using whatever programs I have to convert the video format. I have talk back and forth to the company Brmon that is like a sister company to the Benss but the answers aren't really helping me out. Is there anyway to update the player with more codec codes so that I don't have trouble playing them on the player first hand? What specification does the .avi format has to be for the player to accept it? I compare the different movies and I swear they are exactly the same information yet one can play and the other doesn't??? Go figure!

Also using your slot for the additional memory card I can only display my movies and if I have pictures they will not show up on the picture mode. Does anybody have any way of making this work? I only have the Chinese manual , no english manual and can't figure a way to translate that information to English. I receive a similar manual from the Brmon player from the company but it really doesn't explain the questions I have for working this player. :? : If anybody can help me I would certainly be most appreciated and grateful. Thank you for your time in reading my questions. Cynthia

Hi,

Strange, i can't seem to find a place that says what codecs it does support, even the official bmorn site doesn't say it.

The only thing it mentions is the file formats: AVI?RM?RMVB?FLV?MP4?MOV?3GP?MKV?VOB?MPG?MPGE?DAT?ASF?WMV. But it doesn't mention any codecs.

I did see that the player has about thesame chip as the Ainol V6000HDA.

I think mp4nation also had this player before(the Bmorn BM-88 8) , but i can't find any more specs of it. Anyone else knows the list of codecs this player support?

When you have the list of codecs that it supports, then you can see the codec your video's use with MediaInfo. Before you copy the movie to the player, check the codec, if it's a non-supported codec of the player, convert it to a supported codec, i would go for a regular xvid codec.

I hope someone else can give you the list of codecs it supports, i only did find the file formats, but you need the list of supported codecs to know this.

Like itsme32m mentioned. avi(xvid codec) should be fine for most Chinese. make sure the bitrate is not so high. Use Mediainfo to get your working and not woring avi file's detail and post here, hope you can find some answer.

I downloaded the MediaInfo program:

This information is from a video that was accepted into the player:
avi: 583 MB, 1 Hr 26 Mn
1 video stream: MPEG-4 visual (xvid)
1 audio stream: MPEG Autio (MP3)
767 kbps, 360*272 (4:3) at 29.970 FPS, MPEG-4 Visual (XVID)(simple@L3)
Audio:
128 Kbps, 44.1KH2, channels, MPEG audio (MP)

This below information is from a video that won't play into the player:
avi: 325 MB, 48 mn
1 video stream: MPEG-4 visual (xvid)
1 audio stream: MPEG Audio (MP3)
799 kbps, 230*272 (4:3) at 25.000 FPS, MPEG-4 Visual (XVID) (simple@L3)
Audio:
Same as above

I hope this information helps you out to diagnose my issue.

Also I wonder if the Micro SD cards has something to do with this issue too? Because I bought a couple of 16 GB Micro Cards from Hong Kong on Ebay and some will accept on it and some won't play. I just recently got free here in the US a 4 GB Micro card and all my movies were accepted on it. ???????????

Just trying to mention anything that would help with the Diagnosis of how to make everything work.
I appreciate your help greatly!! Thanks, Cynthia

16GB cards could be fake memory, if they were cheap then odds are they are hacked, see www.sosfakeflash.com for info, but it appears you have been conned by good old ebay

itsme32m - i think those specs you gave may be for the F10 version - newer

Maderin, didn't know there was an older and a newer version, hard to keep up with all those players :D . It seems to be hard to find the supported codecs for this player. I even couldn't find the specs of the player mp4nation sold.

Cindytm, that's weird, i would expect a different codec, but both of your movies are divx and both are in (simple@L3).

The next thing that would be a problem is the kbps, the one that works is 767 kbps, the one that doesn't work is 799 kbps so the difference is not that big and i don't think that is a problem.

What could be the problem then is the resolution, the one that works is 360*272, the one that doesn't work is 230*272. Try to convert the video that doesn't work with thesame codec, but change the resolution to 360*272, and try to play that file. If that doesn't work, convert the file to 767 kbps to see if that's the problem.

The best thing you can do this to see what works, is to make the video smaller, let's say make it to 10 minutes playtime. And convert that 3 times, one with the resolution of the video that plays fine, one with the kbps that plays fine, and one with both the resolution and kpbs, put these 3 files in the internal memory of your player and try to play the 3 files. If the one with the converted resolution works fine, then the resolution is the problem. You just have to know that you need to convert it to 360*272 then.

For the micro sd card, try the not working card also in another product, like a mobile phone, if it works in there, you can use it for that product, if that also doesn't work, then it's no good micro sd card. Personaly, i did buy pretty much stuf on ebay and i never had a problem with it. Before i buy, i make sure that the price is good and not unbelievable cheap, if i didn't buy from the seller before, i ask a question and see how fast he responds and how, and i look from reactions from other customers before i buy something. I had more luck with things buying on ebay, then buying in the local shop. I had 2 usb memory sticks that didn't work at all, buyd from a local shop. Even with my pc that i buyd from a local shop, i had troubles with it from the moment i buyd it and used it, i send it for 4 or 6 times back, they put in a new motherboard, memory, 3d card, until it was out of warranty, then i made it myself but i couldn't fix the usb ports, so i had a usb card to put in the pc. But then i had enough of it, and i ordered a pc from ankermann, and it works perfect for the last 4 years. Maybe i'm just lucky with buying from internet, but i had more luck from that then from buying from a local store. The only thing that broke that i bought from the internet was the Mahdi T951 player, where the internal battery leaked. Very strange that the battery leaked, because normaly it's not possible for this type of battery to leak?

Why do i always have to tell a story when i try to help? :D

yep -confusing it is, the original x636 uses the cc1600 chip so AVI(xvid and divx) should be fine although i personally found divx encoded AVI problematic, some FLV and rmvb - same abilites as the nationite OS72HR player essentailly

Thank you all for giving me your thoughts on the issues!
It is much appreciated and I will do some more testing.
In the meantime I wrote 2 emails to the company in Hong Kong that I have been corresponding too and once I get some reply will post it here.

Thanks once again!! :D :D

I am adding an additional comments from my email from the Hong Kong company. One of the answers was 'no support coding of AAC1-AAC4" for this player. I don't quite understand what that means in English.

It means your audio (for video) must be mp3. and the video mustn't me mp4 avc.

simply convert divx and make sure the audio is in mp3 format.
