The latest firmware for the HDVP2 has seen a few nice new additions, namely the radio and turning off of the video preview over network, but another surprise is the new Subtitles options menu.
Some things i notedi tested over wifi network (cos i was to lazy to mess with drives) and found that TVersity does not send down any external subs for the HDVP2 to see, even though they are in the same folder, using the included software from Nationite (Intel server) was fine and the server allowed the player to see the 2 sub files that were there (one SRT and one SSA), PS3 media server just kept crashing anyway so i give up on that one in general
Does not work with hard-coded subs as they are rendered as part of the film and not selectable anyway
Does not work with embedded, bitmap based subs, so my MakeMKV rips did not work as they have bitmap subs, and as these types are not actual "text" (they are essentially images) then its obvious i suppose that this new subs interface will not touch them in any way.
